The historical resistance of the Kurds in Kobani against ISIS witnessed the birth of a new joint force, far from concepts and nationalist conflicts in the Middle East.

The goal of forming the Euphrates Volcano Operations Room was to achieve unity and solidarity of the components of the region, regardless of religious, ethnic, or sectarian affiliations.

Euphrates Volcano Operations is among 88 military factions in the region, many of whom fled to Turkish territory and some of whom merged with ISIS.

Sharvan says that the Euphrates Volcano Operations Room was one of 3 similar experiences at the time, as Afrin Canton witnessed an alliance between the People’s and Women’s Protection Units, the Revolutionary Army, and the Kurdish Front forces, and in Jazera Canton, the People’s and Women’s Protection Units allied with the Jazera Brigades, Al-Sanadid Forces, and the Syriac Military Council.

The Kurdish-Arab alliance in Kobani played a big role in defeating ISIS; And liberating the regions of NE Syria, all the way to Baghouz, the last stronghold of the mercenaries, where ISIS was destroyed and geographically ended in the spring of 2019.

The SDF were formed on October 10, 2015, based on an alliance of dozens of military formations in northern Syria. They fought decisive battles over the past years, the most important of which were the battle to liberate Raqqa, the battle to eliminate ISIS in Baghouz, the Afrin resistance, and the SereKaniye resistance, the battle of Al-Sinaa prison in Hasaka and the operation to Security Enhancement in Deir ez-Zor.
