SDF's Security Reinforcement operation is to eliminate ISIS sleeper cells

Yesterday (August 27, 2023) the General Command of the Syrian Democratic Forces launched an operation in the Deir Ezzor region and the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, under the name of "Security Reinforcement" due to the terrorist operations in Deir Ezzor region in which cells of the terrorist organization ISIS targeted the safe population, the dignitaries of the region, and the security forces, and based on the efforts of continuous communication between the General Command of our forces; The Syrian Democratic Forces and the notables and sheikhs of the clans, especially the recent meetings and the resulting recommendations and demands for the need to pursue terrorist cells and dry up their sources, our forces have launched this operation.

101 attacks

According to the information we received from various sources in the security forces, sleeper cells in the Deir Ezzor and Hasaka regions have carried out, since the beginning of this year until now, 101 planned attacks, targeting residents, security forces, and fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces.

The most prominent of these attacks:

On June 26, 2023, mercenaries attacked a checkpoint of the security forces in the village of Buraiha in Deir Ezzor with a motorcycle, which resulted in the martyrdom of one member of the security forces and the wounding of another.

On August 23, mercenaries attacked the house of one of the notables of the al-Akidat clan in the village of Muwaileh in Deir Ezzor, Jamil Rashid al-Hafel, causing material damage, in an attempt to assassinate him.

On August 20, ISIS mercenaries detonated a mine of the Syrian Democratic Forces and the International Coalition in the town of Al-Shuhail in Deir Ezzor, which caused material damage.

On August 20, mercenaries launched an attack on a bakery in the village of Al-Hagna in Deir Ezzor, causing material damage, after the owner of the bakery refused to pay Zakat to ISIS cells.

On August 19, ISIS mercenaries shot a car belonging to the security forces on the road to the village of Al-Zayyanat in Deir Ezzor, the attack resulted in the martyrdom of a member of the security forces and the wounding of two others.

On August 2, the car transporting bread from al-Shaddadi district to al-Sour district was attacked by ISIS mercenaries in the village of al-Hussein. The mercenaries, who were riding a motorcycle, fired bullets at the car, killing a member of the security forces and wounding two others.

On August 1, mercenaries riding a motorcycle killed Fadi Adnan Mikhlif in the village of Al-Dahla in Deir Ezzor.

SDF officials revealed that the aim of their latest operation is to eliminate these cells and enhance the security of the region.
