Arab experts: Interests are the reason of international silence of isolation on leader Ocalan

Solidarity campaigns continued with leader Abdullah Ocalan against the isolation imposed on him and his deprivation of rights stipulated by international and humanitarian law.

Egyptian researcher Walaa Abu Steit attributed "the organizations' silence on Turkey's violations against leader Abdullah Ocalan to what she described as "interest."

She told ANHA's agency, "This world is ruled by the politics of interests, the national interest at the national level, then the regional interest in light of those who benefit from those in the region's alliances, and so on. The international community is also governed by it as most international policies are governed by interest. Therefore, Ocalan, this leader is forced to be absent, is a victim." Those major policies that, once changed, may change the matter towards his just cause.

And she continued, "In short, no one supports justice and no one stands with justice. Turkey when it was in enmity with its regional surroundings and when it was taking hostile policies towards Europe and playing the refugee card and others, that was the window of opportunity for any movement in its confrontation, and therefore there were some condemnations or meager positions that dealt with the issue." From time to time, but now the situation has changed in light of the map of international conflicts and the protracted Ukrainian war, so you will not find any expected position, neither from Europe nor the United States, nor from the international community and its organizations, which are ruled by these in different ways.

She pointed out that "if we look at the Western playing with the democracy card in the Third World, we find that this card is driven by politics before human rights or otherwise," pointing out that "Iran, despite its repressive policies towards its people, will find a discrepancy in criticism, denunciation and condemnation of its policies towards the recent popular movement in different stages, as well as the position on Turkey and its recent moves in NATO, and what happened with Sweden, and how Turkey played on all strings to implement its goals.

She believes that "most of the international positions clearly reveal the logic of interest that now governs international politics and everyone resorts to him to achieve his goals and policy, and the only one affected remains Ocalan, the leader who confronted everyone from his prison and turned the isolation imposed on him into a wide world to spread his ideas."

According to the researcher, "what is important now is that Ocalan's ideas are achieving a wide spread even in Europe, whose values and ideals that she constantly praises did not work," stressing that "in the end, time will reveal everyone and prove the validity of Ocalan's ideas."

Applying pressure

Lebanese human rights activist Sawsan Shoman, founder of the Noun Initiative for Ocalan's Freedom, believes that "the Turkish authorities are seeking to obliterate Ocalan's enlightening thought, which demanded coexistence and acceptance of difference and defended minorities and their right to identity, language, existence and belief."

She told ANHA's agency, "The regimes are usually afraid of these ideas and their spread, so they seek in various ways to block these ideas from the public, and this is what the Turkish government did, because this thought poses a threat to regimes with a totalitarian mentality that rules with an iron fist and fire."

She pointed out that "the major countries that control global politics have always sought to make the Middle East a hotbed of conflicts and wars in order to implement their agendas and achieve their interests. Therefore, the project of democracy, pluralism and coexistence that Ocalan brought is not commensurate with international expansions."

And she continued, "Hence, it is the duty of everyone who believes in Ocalan's thought among the free people of the world to take serious steps to publicize his cause in international forums and with organizations concerned with human rights. It is also possible to prepare awareness sessions about this thought, which would contribute to spreading the philosophy of this leader."

The human rights activist believes that "what is more important than pressure on Turkey is to create a state of global awareness of the issue of this leader Ocalan, who has been detained for decades and has been cut off from communication with the outside world."

Sawsan believes that "social media plays a very important role in this regard, as well as the repeated requests of lawyers to see Ocalan. All these measures can constitute pressure factors to lift the imposed isolation."
