​​​​​​​Protests and demonstrations in Al-Swayda and Daraa calling for Resolution 2254 implementation

Al-Swayda and Daraa are witnessing protests and demonstrations by the people, calling for the implementation of Resolution 2254, the departure of Bashar al-Assad, and the improvement of economic conditions, according to the Syrian Observatory.

The Zakia town in the Damascus countryside also witnessed graffiti against the Damascus government forces, amid a great alert for the Damascus forces.

This coincided with the Al-Swayda tribes' announcement to join the general strike today.

In the same context, notables from the village of Mansura, whose people belong to the Bedouin tribes of al-Swayda, informed of their participation in the general strike that the governorate will witness, in protest against the deteriorating economic conditions.

The SOHR reported that dozens of Daraa residents took part in a demonstration in front of Al-Omari Mosque in Daraa al-Balad, and demanded the departure of Bashar al-Assad and the release of detainees in prisons.

The demonstrations in Daraa came in parallel with demonstrations in Al-Swayda, where the SOHR indicated today that protesters in the town of Al-Qurayya of al-Swayda held banners reading: "We want to live, leave," "No to oppression," and "No to the policy of starvation and displacement".

Dozens of residents gathered in front of Sultan Pasha al-Atrash tomb in the town of Al-Qurayya, south of Al-Swayda, for the third day in a row, demanding that the Damascus government achieve justice, which is the demand of citizens.

The Observatory also indicated that dozens of residents of the village of Al-Matuna in the countryside of Al-Swayda went out this morning in an angry demonstration to denounce the deteriorating living conditions in the areas controlled by the Damascus government forces, and the government’s disregard for the suffering of the citizens, after the very high prices and the collapse of the Syrian lira .

The protesters blocked the Damascus-al-Swayda road for an hour, while allowing some cases to pass, to confirm the continuation of the protests.
