Jurist: Investigation committee should be formed to look into the case of leader Abdullah Ocalan

The Turkish occupation state continues to impose strict isolation on the leader Abdullah Ocalan, as it prevents him from meeting his lawyer and his family, and also sent him a threatening letter, amid shameful silence by international forces and human rights organizations.

Jurist Shadi Al-Ibrahim affirmed: "The Turkish occupation state does not hesitate to violate international laws and covenants in full view of the whole world, without any deterrent to its massacres against peoples and the tightening of isolation against the leader Abdullah Ocalan."

And Shadi Al-Ibrahim stated: "Turkey has an old Ottoman plan, everyone knows that, but the international communities condone its criminal actions, and that the isolation imposed on the leader Abdullah Ocalan is caused by the fear of the capitalist countries and the state of the Justice and Development Party of his ideology."

Al-Ibrahim affirmed: "In law, no country is allowed to violate laws, but Turkey violates them every day, by imposing illegal measures on the leader Abdullah Ocalan and depriving him of his most basic rights claimed by countries and human rights and humanitarian organizations."

Al-Ibrahim explained that the thought of the leader Abdullah Ocalan is an internationalist thought that is not limited to the Kurds only; Rather, it seeks to spread the brotherhood of peoples and solidarity and to solve the outstanding problems in the Middle East in a radical way.

And Al-Ibrahim indicated that Turkey did not stop at tightening the isolation of the leader Abdullah Ocalan and depriving his lawyer and his family of visiting him only, but rather sent direct threatening messages to poison him if the revolutionary escalation continued by the peoples who yearn for freedom and believe in his thought and philosophy.

Shadi Al-Ibrahim confirmed that they, as human rights activists, are calling for the formation of an international investigation committee by the international community and human rights organizations to consider the case of leader Abdullah Ocalan, and for it to have a serious stance regarding the legal violations and violations committed by the Turkish occupation state against him.

Al-Ibrahim explained: "In international laws and norms, the life sentence is 22 years. Today, leader Abdullah Ocalan has ended this sentence, and the Turkish occupation state is still detaining him without taking into account his rights."

Al-Ibrahim called on the international community and human rights and humanitarian organizations, led by the Committee Against Torture (CPT), to pressure Turkey to reveal the health status of leader Abdullah Ocalan, break isolation and achieve his physical freedom.
