9 water pumping stations in Tabqa are completely out of service

Today, dozens of members of the Tabqa Water Unit, representatives of the Democratic Civil Administration of Tabqa, gathered to make a statement about the reality of the Euphrates River water, and its repercussions on NE Syria.

The statement read by the co-chair of Tabqa Water Unit, Hammoud Al-Sheikh, noted that the Turkish occupation state continues to cut water from NE Syria, and uses water as a weapon against the people of the region, mentioning that it cut off drinking water from Hasaka, and withheld Euphrates water.

The statement pointed out Turkey's continued violation of the agreements signed regarding the waters of the Euphrates River, and its continued disregard for those agreements, and noted the reality of the river's waters: "It resulted in a decrease in the level of dams and lakes, including Tabqa Dam, which lost 4 billion cubic meters of water as a result of these practices."

The statement noted the conversion of the stations designated for securing drinking water to the people, from their vertical pumps to horizontal ones, and the final discontinuation of 9 stations, depriving those who depended on them for water.

The statement called on the United Nations to play an effective role to save the population of Syria in general and NE Syria in particular, and to prevent the Turkish occupation state from continuing its war crimes against the Syrians.
