YPG calls for resistance Turkish attacks on Şengal

Today, the General Command of the People's Protection Units YPG issued a statement to the public opinion, on the 9th anniversary of ISIS attacks on Şengal district, stressing that: "Any new attack on our Yazidi people is an attack on us."

The text of the statement read: "On the ninth anniversary of the Şengal massacre committed by ISIS on August 3, 2014, we remember all the martyrs of our Yazidi people who were brutally killed, especially the women. We also condemn all the forces that planned and carried out this massacre, as they aimed to exterminate the entire Kurdish people."

This genocide is not only one of the most dangerous massacres in the twenty-first century, but also one of the worst and cruelest massacres in human history.

Our Yazidi people were left alone to face this massacre.

This massacre was the largest one in history against the Yazidis, and its aim was to complete the exterminations that they were subjected to over decades. Our Yazidi people, who faced these massacres 73 times in history, defended their existence, and Şengal was always for them a sacred place, as they wanted through the invasion of Şengal to completely annihilate and melt the Yezidi culture, but the Kurdistan freedom fighters intervened from the first moment and stopped this genocide plan . After opening the humanitarian corridor, our forces, the People's and Women's Protection Units YPJ-YPG, moved from Rojava to Şengal. In this way, the girls and boys of Şengal joined the Guerrilla fighters and the fighters of our units and fought against ISIS.

Today, the Turkish state is trying to complete the genocide of the Yazidis committed by ISIS, and unfortunately, the world remains inaction in the face of these attacks. The Yazidi people have the right to live freely in their own self-administration, and on this basis, all world powers must fulfill their humanitarian and historical duty towards Şengal.

In light of the attacks of the fascist Turkish state against the Yazidi people and the Şengal Protection Forces, all countries and international forces that recognize the genocide in Şengal must act and stop the Turkish state attacks, which directly supports ISIS, and hold it accountable for its actions.

We at the People's Protection Units YPG, declare that we will always be with our Yazidi people with all our strength as we have done before. Therefore, any new attack on our Yazidi people is an attack on us as well.

We are confident that Şengal will become a free city in which our Yazidi people live freely.
