Leader Abdullah Ocalan: How does the struggler live? -1

First, if there is any meaning that can be extracted from the resistance of July 14, it is not only for the prison resistance, not only for one organization, because it developed in the person of the resistance against the genocidal policies directed at the party and the entire people, i.e. against the plan for total eradication. Responding to the Day of Resistance means show strength to comply with such an appeal."

Today is the 41st anniversary of Operation Great Strike of July 14, 1982; Leaders of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) Khairy Durmus, Kemal Peer, Akif Yilmaz and Ali Cicek started the Great Strike on July 14, 1982 against all kinds of torture and inhumane practices of the fascist colonial Turkish state in Amed Prison. Kemal Peer was martyred on September 7, 1982, Khairy Durmus on September 12, Akif Yilmaz on September 15, and Ali Cicek on September 17. While the historical process showed the brutality of the Turkish state to the entire world, it also guided the struggle for freedom in Kurdistan and became a source of great gains. The Rojava Revolution, which was also announced on one of the days of July (July 19), meant the survival of the spirit of July 14, which was declared as the Day of Dignity of the Nation.

Due to today's memory; In two chapters, we publish a section of the evaluation made by the leader Abdullah Ocalan on the anniversary of the "Great Strike Operation" on July 14, 1994.

They decide the strongest resistance operation against the extermination policy

“We remember July 14th. Today; a group of prison resistance fighters showed in their own person the resistance of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) that they embody against the enemy that wants to destroy all the people's hopes for freedom to the last crumb. This is an indisputable fact. In the most difficult period; in the early 1980s, after showing all the necessary resistance against the policy of annihilation that completely destroys everything that exists and deliberately taking every precaution to prevent it from flourishing again, they finally try to resist melting their bodies and consuming their breath in this way as a last resistance, and they make the strongest decision of the resistance process.

Revolutionary practice is life itself for them

In reality; They are the comrades who wanted to fight the greatest struggle. We know philanthropists and perfectionists well. They are our comrades who were full of passion for struggle. Revolutionary practice for them is life itself. Khairy is a great personality who does the organization's work and propaganda relentlessly, and otherwise he doesn't have a single day that goes by in vain. Kamal is a figure who put everything in the service of the party from its head to its foundation, and lived the line of the party's struggle with everything, which made the party's life style breathless. Much has been said on this subject, and many things can and will be said.

They are our comrades who have managed to establish themselves well in the reality of our party, under the most difficult and impossible conditions, and who have responded with the greatest resistance to not giving up on that. They are characters who have proven it time and time again. Such insistence on resistance was led by these personalities. It is necessary to understand this well.

How does the resistor live? They lived through several aspects of that resistance in the cells of Diyarbakır, enduring all kinds of torture. Each long and overwhelming minute of it is equivalent to a year. This is how they evaluated these moments that lasted several years, in order to be able to somewhat mention the name of the party and continue its struggle under more favorable conditions.

When this resistance ends, so will the people

Firstly; If there is any meaning to be drawn from the resistance of July 14, it is not only for the prison resistance, not just for one organization; This is because it developed in the person of the resistance against the extermination policies directed at the Party and the entire people, i.e. against the plan of total eradication. We know very well that this is the enemy's plan, and I have explained it in detail. It is the identity of a people they wanted to completely bury in the darkness of history and an opportunity for resistance represented by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). Resisting the PKK means making the people live freely on the stage of history again, if possible. In this sense; The suppression of the cell resistance and the suppression of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) would be the suppression of an entire people and their demise from the stage of history. This is also a confirmed fact. At that time, there will be no south, north, east, or west of Kurdistan. When this resistance ends, so will the people. Since now history already says so. The resistance of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) has made everyone accept it for what it is. At this point, those who apply the slogan "resistance is life" to themselves appear. This is the people's noblest hope and call for life.

They have become the flame, the hope of life, the way of life that lit up the people. You must understand this well. You will see how they fight with the least possibility, how they fight on difficult circumstances. They resisted in the cell, which was not even the size of a grave. Are you unable to carry out your duties in an environment that includes thousands, when there are those who carry out the task of victory alone as there is no possibility of breathing? They organize a business that certainly contains victory, wouldn't you be able to organize an ordinary success amidst all these possibilities? How do you say that you are committed to the memory of these great resistance martyrs?

What does all this mean? The great days, the days of the great decision, cannot pass normally; It requires that they be thoroughly understood, internalized, and taken as commands in everyday life. The July 14 decision of the resistance, which means that the ability to make the decision to exist as a party and as a people, is the most difficult means of struggle, once again, that is, the ability to implement this decision by dissolving oneself, and in this sense not to be defeated and surrender perhaps to the last destructive force in history, and another very important conclusion It is the creation of victory over death, that is, the preservation of the living in absolute resistance. The slogan "Resistance is life" that emanates from this resistance; This means that you can live better through the toughest resistance.

This resolution has been shown, in other words; It showed our way of fighting, our way of life. They could only start this process of resistance for the sake of such life and war. If we want to be decent, we can only be decent by developing life and war in this manner.

We, the living, live always full of weaknesses, but the result of working as hard as possible without resorting to justifications like why we didn't succeed: is the truth of the party, the reality of war. This is how they tried to hand the party over to us through the resistance, and this is how we tried to protect it, develop it and implement it. This is their process, and this is our response. Especially for the party, they recommended it to us, so we kind of kept it.

It is your duty to respect this fact and put it into practice

You must have a place in revolutionary life and struggle, you must have success. They did not keep themselves alive for sixty days by adhering to this decision in vain. This is how they showed life through resistance. If they lived by resistance and fighting; Do you think you will survive by playing to possibilities and opening the way to all kinds of failure? ? Can you forgive yourselves on this basis? The truth is clear. They resisted, melted themselves and said, "This is life." This is how they established the relationship between war and life. Your duty is to respect this fact and put it into practice.

You cannot fulfill all of our heritage and vital values with all the notions of hierarchy, irresponsibility, and authoritarianism. The great misconception is that these values, though obtained quite differently, you treat them with a very different love. What does individualism, the disease of early power, have to do with our heritage, and what does it have to do with the war for protection?

Tomorrow: the struggle of the people must proceed successfully.
