Religious figures: Solidarity, democratic nation are weapon to confront genocide, attacks

The Second International Conference on Religions and Beliefs was held under the title "By the brotherhood of religions we advance human values" over the course of July 8-9, in the city of Hasaka, NE Syria.

On the sidelines of the conference, ANHA agency conducted interviews with religious figures participating in the conference on the role of religions in building a democratic society.

Muhammad al-Qadri Abi Anwar, one of the sheikhs of the Qadiriyya approach, spoke in this regard, and said: “The life of the Messenger of Allah was based on the principle of shura and democracy, as he did not impose his opinion on anyone, for he was the messenger of social justice, freedom and democracy, and democracy was built on the basis of human attainment, so we all strive to build a democratic society.”

As for the spokeswoman for the Yazidi Women's Union in NE Syria, Suad Hesso, she indicated that religions have an important role in consolidating democracy in society. Because it represents society and protects it from the extremist and radical Islam that ISIS mercenaries follow, and establishes coexistence between the components."

She added, "The regions of NE Syria are rich in their religious components and sects, and these sects and components have united to form a mosaic, based on the principle of the leader's Ocalan democratic nation."

Suad Hesso stated that "it is the responsibility of all religions and beliefs, including Yazidis, to work together to implement the project of a democratic nation, because it is the only weapon to confront genocide and attacks."

Whereas, Sheikh Muhammad Nasser Al-Junaid, the member of the Aal al-Bayt League office in Hasaka referred to the great role of religions in the stability of society, since all religions appeared according to the principles of mercy and morals, so we must join hands and make every effort to spread the spirit of cooperation among all people who live on this earth ".

He added: "In order to build a democratic society, we must return to the Medina Document, which respects all religions, customs and beliefs, and constitutes a spirit of solidarity and cooperation."
