Hasaka's Water Directorate warns of humanitarian catastrophe over cutting of water

The co-chair of the Water Directorate in Hasaka canton, Issa Younes, explained to ANHA agency: "We seek to reach the voice of the people of Hasaka to the international community, the concerned parties and the active forces in NE Syria, and to clarify the dangers resulting from cutting off the water from the city."

He added, "The Turkish occupation and its mercenaries cut off the water of Alouk station, the only water resource covering the city of Hasaka, which threatens a humanitarian catastrophe."

Regarding the measures that the directorate will take to alleviate the suffering of the people from the water crisis, Younes explained, "There is a group of water tanks belonging to the directorate, which will serve the people by distributing water through councils and communes to overcome the disaster that the people of Hasaka are going through."

The Water Directorate in Hasaka canton suffers from a lack of water transport tanks, which number 60, which will not adequately meet the needs of the people.

Younes stressed that they are working as much as possible to control the route of the tanks and deliver water to the largest number of citizens, until the implementation of a project to draw drinking water from the countryside of Amuda in the coming period.

Younes called on all humanitarian organizations to pay attention to the humanitarian catastrophe that the people of Hasaka are going through, as a result of the policy of the Turkish occupation state and cutting off the water of Alouk station.
