9 people killed, wounded in the recent Israeli targeting of Syria

SOHR reported the killing of a member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and the wounding of 4 others of non-Syrian nationality with varying injuries. As a result of the Israeli strikes that targeted the northern countryside of Homs after midnight from Saturday to Sunday.

According to the source, the strikes targeted "an ammunition depot, which does not know the type of weapons inside, in the vicinity of the village of Al-Najma on the northeastern outskirts of the city of Homs, where violent explosions were heard in several areas of the city of Homs."

In addition, 4 members of the air defense were injured as a result of the Israeli missiles that targeted the S-200 air defense base in the Al-Qadmous area in the Tartous countryside, coinciding with the attempts of the air defense to confront the Israeli attack, but they failed to do so, and the Israeli missiles reached their targets.

Thus, the Observatory has counted, during the year 2023, that Israel targeted the Syrian lands 19 times, 15 of them by air and 4 by land, which resulted in the injury and destruction of about 43 targets, among weapons and ammunition depots, headquarters, centers and mechanisms.

These strikes killed 49 soldiers, in addition to injuring 50 others, including 18 of the Damascus government forces, while those targets were distributed as follows: 7 in Damascus and its countryside, 5 in Quneitra, 1 in Hama, 2 in Tartous, 3 in Aleppo, 3 in As- Suweida, and 2 for Daraa, and 2 for Homs.

Israel has always targeted more than one area at a time, which explains the discrepancy between the number of times and the number of targets, according to the Observatory.
