First anniversary of martyrdom Farhad Dêrik...Killers have not been held accountable

A year has passed since the martyrdom of the Deputy Co-Presidency of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Hussein Shibli (Farhad Dêrik), who had gone to Sulaymaniyah in Başûr Kurdistan to receive treatment. He was martyred there in the Kalar region on June 17, 2022 with three of his comrades, following an aerial bombardment by a drone  belonging to the Turkish occupation state.

The fighter Farhad Dêrik, who was born in the village of Qadrirk of the city of Dêrik in 1977, has been involved in the struggle since the 1990s, and was introduced to the Kurdistan liberation movement through his mother, Sherine Omar to join the revolutionary activity in 1993.

Farhad Dêrik conducted revolutionary work during those years in many regions and cities in Rojava, Kurdistan and Syria, and he received training from the leader Abdullah Ocalan in 1997, then he went to the mountains of Kurdistan, and there he also engaged in revolutionary work in many areas of Media and the camp of the martyr Rustam Judi.

July 19 Revolution and its pioneering role in building the administration system

Farhad Dêrik went to Rojava Kurdistan, with the start of the popular spring and the start of the Syrian crisis, and the Kurds of Rojava organized themselves under his leadership and his comrades according to the circumstances of the stage and built their system. In this context, the People's Council of Western Kurdistan (MGRK) was established, with him as one of its founders. With the start of the revolution of July 19, 2012, he became one of the leaders of the revolution, and played a prominent role in defending, organizing, training and educating society, and led the liberation of regions and building order in them, especially in Aleppo and Afrin.

The construction of the Autonomous Administration system (2014) began along with the liberation of the regions, and Farhad Dêrik was one of the leaders and pioneers of this work. He organized the people in communes, councils, and district administrations and directed them, and although he lost one of his feet in the war, he trained the people from Aleppo, Afrin, Manbij, Kobani, Girê Spî, Hasaka, Qamishlo and Dêrik, and introduced them to the Autonomous Administration system and built a position for himself within society through his struggle In the end, he was elected deputy of the joint presidency of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria in 2018.

He was targeted by the brutal enemy

On June 17, 2022, while he was accompanied by 3 of his companions in the Kalar district of Sulaymaniyah, Their car was bombed by a drone of the Turkish occupation state, which resulted in his martyrdom along with his three companions.

The funeral of the martyr Farhad Dêrik took place, with the participation of tens of thousands, and it was buried in the shrine of the martyr Khabat Dêrik, in Dêrik, while mourning tents were erected in all regions of NE Syria.

The killers have not been held accountable and the attacks continue

The Turkish occupation state, whose plans against the Kurdistan Liberation Movement in southern Kurdistan fail is assassinating revolutionaries and patriots. On September 16, 2021, citizen Farhad Barish Kundu from Bakur Kurdistan was targeted in Sulaymaniyah, which resulted in his injury, and on the 17th of the month The same and the same year, the member of the Martyrs’ Families Committee of the PKK in Başûr Kurdistan, Yassin Bulut (Shukri Sarhad), was martyred after being targeted by members of the Turkish intelligence services and their agents also in Sulaymaniyah, and on May 17, 2022, the patriot from Bakur Kurdistan, Zaki, was attacked. Muhammad Chalabi was subjected to an armed attack in the Bakhtiari neighborhood in Sulaymaniyah, and he was martyred the next day, that is, on May 18, and on June 17, 2022, the deputy co-presidency of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Farhad Dirêk was martyred as a result of being targeted in Kalar.

However, the killers have not yet been found, and those responsible for his martyrdom have not yet been held accountable, in addition to that, the attacks of the occupiers and agents continue.

On August 28, 2022, the member of the General Council of the Kurdistan Community Freedom Movement (Freedom Movement), Suhail Khurshid Aziz was assassinated in front of his house in the town of Kifri of the Garmian region.

On October 4, 2022, the pioneer in gnology, journalist, thinker, and academic Nakhan Akarsal was assassinated in a brutal attack in the Bakhtiari neighborhood of Sulaymaniyah. The killer was arrested, but the circumstances of the attack have not been revealed yet.

On April 17, 2023, the Kurdish patriot from Bakur Kurdistan, Hussein Turali, was martyred as a result of an armed attack in the city of Dohuk.

Recently, a member of the Mesopotamia Workers' Association, Hussein Arasan, was shot on June 9, and he was martyred on the 10th of this month.

Training to follow in his footsteps

Those responsible for the martyrdom of Farhad Dêrik have not been held accountable, but the necessary response is being provided in NE Syria by working to achieve the goals of the martyrs. After his martyrdom; The Internal Security Forces opened an academy in his name, and hundreds of people have been trained in this academy so far.

The family of Martyr Farhad hung his pictures and memories in one of the rooms of the house, and work is underway to write a book about his life and struggle.

The sister of the martyr Farhad, Dalia Shibli, spoke to ANHA agency, and stated that the concerned authorities must open an investigation into the incident of targeting her brother. She pointed out the need to strengthen popular solidarity to purify society from agents who allow the Turkish occupation state to target patriots, militants and revolutionaries.

Programs and events to remember

On the occasion of the first anniversary of the martyrdom of Farhad Dêrik, a program will be held in Dêrik on the 17th of June, the day of his martyrdom, a program to remember him, and the Autonomous Administration will commemorate his memory in the city of Raqqa on the 19th of this month.
