Citizens: CPT is responsible as Turkish state for illegal "disciplinary sanctions"

The first Supreme Criminal Court in the Turkish city of Bursa, the lawyers of leader Abdullah Ocalan, reported on April 27 the decision to ban him from meeting with the family and his lawyer for 6 months.

The decisions prohibiting the meeting with the leader are taken as a result of "disciplinary sanctions" imposed on him by the Turkish authorities, in order to deny him the "right to hope", as well as the severe isolation imposed on him, as no information has been received since 25 March 2021.

Denouncing the resolutions prohibiting the meeting and "disciplinary sanctions", ANHA’s agency spoke to the citizens of the Sheikh Maksoud neighbourhood in the city of Aleppo, expressing their indignation about them.

Badran Hamo, a resident of the Sheikh Maksoud neighbourhood, referred to the Turkish state's adherence to its arbitrary attachment to the leader.

He commented on the recent decision against the leader to impose a ban on meeting with him: "This shows us one thing: the extent to which the leader's thinking affects the people, and the fear of the governing regimes to spread and apply it".

Everyone is responsible for what is happening in Imrali

Badran held the international community responsible and guilty of what the leader is exposed to, saying: "25 years ago, the leader was kidnapped in Imrali prison and illegal penalties were being practiced against him. The international community, human rights and humanitarian organizations and the Committee for the Prevention of Torture in Detention Centers (CPT), with their silence, are responsible for that as is the Turkish state."

"The Turkish state sees the silence of the international community and human rights organizations as a green light in imposing more disciplinary sanctions and legitimizes them as well," he added.

Badran Hamo concluded: "The light of freedom emanates from Imrali prison, and we must adhere to the leader's ideas in order to achieve his physical freedom and guarantee the people's freedom."

Citizen Hevin Mohammad, from the same neighborhood, explained: "25 years ago, the commander was kidnapped by the Turkish state in Imrali prison, and disciplinary penalties were imposed on him every period, preventing his lawyer and family from meeting him."

Hevin indicated the intentions of the Turkish occupation authorities behind imposing disciplinary sanctions on the leader, saying: "Because the leader's thought is democratic and serves the communities, not the authorities, and this is what prompts the Turkish occupier to impose disciplinary sanctions against him in an effort to separate him from his people."

As for the citizen, Eitan Rasho, she expressed her indignation about these penalties, and stated: "The leader's meeting with his lawyer and his family is a legitimate right, and he is a UN leader demanding the rights and freedom of his people. Why is he punished like this? These penalties are a crime against him."

Eitan stressed the necessity of revealing the leader's condition, and added, "It is our right, as his people, to know about his condition, and to receive news of him."
