Afrin's IDPs insist on resistance to return home
The displaced from Afrin in the return camp are determined to resist, struggle until they return to Afrin.
The occupation attacks launched by the Turkish state and its mercenaries on Afrin canton in 2018 resulted in the displacement of tens of thousands of the canton's residents to Sherawa district and al-Shahba canton.
The displaced from Afrin live in semi-destroyed houses and 6 camps distributed in various regions of Sherawa and al-Shahba, one of which is the return camp located in the Sherawa district of Afrin.
The return camp was established in 2019 and houses 150 families, the displaced from Afrin suffer from great difficulties, as Damascus's siege and theTurkish occupation attacks, since the beginning of their displacement until now, but they are nevertheless determined to resist and withstand the difficulties of displacement, attacks, and bad weather.
The administrator of the return camp, Leila Dadu, spoke to ANHA agency and said: "We have been resisting in the camps for 6 years, neither the harsh winter cold nor the intense summer heat, the attacks and siege will break the will of our steadfast people, the people here resist in order to return to Afrin."
Dadu explained that the siege of the Damascus government has had a great impact on the camps, and commented on the difficulties, saying that the displaced are not able to set fires for cooking to avoid breaking out fires in the camp.
Dadu pointed out the need for humanitarian organizations to follow up on the situation of the displaced and said: "We hope here to return to Afrin."
The displaced, Muhammad Ahmed, said: "We live here in the return camp because of the Turkish state's occupation, medicines and fuel are not available here because of the siege, but we are determined to resist and struggle until we return to Afrin."
