"We will turn the issue of leader Abdullah Ocalan into a global issue"

It has been 25 years since the leader Abdullah Ocalan was kidnapped by the Turkish occupation state, in coordination with international powers, amid imposing strict isolation on him, depriving him of his most basic rights, and preventing his family and a lawyer from meeting with him.

Commenting on this isolation, the co-chair of the Lawyers Union in Jazira region, Nisreen Othman, explained that "the isolation imposed on the leader Abdullah Ocalan has no equivalent in any law around the world, as he has been isolated from the outside world for 25 months, and he is not allowed to meet with his relatives or his lawyers or doctors, and this is contrary to all international laws and a flagrant violation of all the rights of political prisoners in the world.

She added, "The Turkish state is striving to impose disciplinary sanctions on leader Abdullah Ocalan to isolate him from the outside world, for fear of the spread of his ideology, which calls for justice, equality, and brotherhood of peoples, in the Middle East and its impact on the Turkish interior."

She pointed out that "the Committee Against Torture did not exercise its effective role in protecting the leader Abdullah Ocalan and preventing the imposition of these disciplinary penalties, as they fell under the influence and policy of the Turkish state."

Nisreen Othman concluded her speech by saying, "We, the lawyers of North and East Syria, established nearly two years ago the defense committee for the leader Abdullah Ocalan, and it includes approximately 700 male and female lawyers. We participate in marches and campaign signatures, and we communicate with lawyers from Kurdistan and South Africa in order to achieve the freedom of the leader Abdullah Ocalan."

For his part, the co-chair of the Lawyers' Union in Aleppo, Alaeddin al-Khaled, said, "The Turkish state does not apply any law regarding the leader Abdullah Ocalan and the political detainees, and after the leader was kidnapped, he was tried in an unfair court that is not based on justice, and it is a mock trial."

He explained, "According to the prison system, the prisoner has rights. As for isolation, it has conditions if the prisoner is sick or suffers from a physical disability, an infectious disease, or problems, provided that this punishment is not repeated more than three times."

Al-Khaled pointed out that the Turkish occupation state did not implement the "Right to Hope" law, which is an international law signed by many countries, including Turkey, and stipulates that if twenty years of the sentence have passed or the prisoner exceeds 70 years, he must be released, and the leader Abdul Allah Ocalan meets the two conditions, but the Turkish occupation state did not apply the law.

And he indicated that "international, humanitarian and human rights organizations are silent, because international interests have overshadowed international, human rights and human rights, the rights of the individual and the Kurdish people, and a project that threatens capitalist modernity in particular, and therefore we see the silence applied, whether by the European Union or Western countries and all human rights, humanitarian and even religious organizations."

In his turn, a member of the Lawyers Union in Jazira region, Muhammad Al-Nuaimi, said: "Everything that happened to the leader Abdullah Ocalan was contrary to international law, as well as Turkish law, if we accept the contradictions of Turkish law and its violation of international law, especially with the Vienna Convention of 1968."

Al-Nuaimi continued, "The leader's situation shifted from the stage of severity and violence against him to the stage of enforced disappearance. This is an international crime and is classified as a crime against humanity, pursuant to Article 7 of the Rome Statute of 1958."

Al-Nuaimi explained, "We are in the process of examining the case of defending the leader and expanding the scope of the defense committee for the leader Abdullah Ocalan from North and East Syria to Syria in general, and we are in the process of establishing a network of international lawyers."

He added, "There are many offices and gatherings of lawyers distributed around the world following the issue of struggle and defense for achieving the freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan, and we are in the process of turning his case into a global one."

At the end of his speech, he stressed, "No one in the world has happened like what happened to the leader Abdullah Ocalan, as he is a philosopher and the owner of a theory that has proven its existence and merit in North and East Syria, as we see it now from the organization and the unique democratic experience in the world."
