PYD: We draw from the march of martyrdom our struggle values

The General Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) issued a written statement, on the occasion of Martyrs' Day, which falls today (May 18).

At the beginning of the statement, it came: "The eighteenth of May of each year is a historic day and a breakthrough towards liberation and revolutionary advancement in the life of the Kurdish people."

He added: "During May 1977, specifically in Northern Kurdistan, the Kurdistan Liberation Movement presented a group of martyrs of the first generation of the liberation struggle that led the Kurdish people's revolution towards freedom and opposition to injustice and enslavement.

During the month of May, a number of the leaders of the Kurdistan struggle were martyred, led by the martyr Hakki Qarar, the Turkish fighter who realized that resolving the Kurdish issue means achieving security and peace for all of Turkey and the region based on the framework of coexistence, in addition to Khalil Jawogun, and the leaders of the resistance in Amed prison, in addition to the martyrdom of relatives Seventy wounded freedom fighters in a hospital in Hewler, Başûr, Kurdistan.

The statement referred to the importance of peoples’ struggles, saying: “We in the Democratic Union Party, at a time when we remember the struggle of the immortal revolutionaries, affirm that the liberation struggle of the revolutionary movements, whether in Kurdistan or in the Middle East and the world, and the struggles of peoples in the face of dictatorial and fascist regimes, is a common struggle with all its meanings.” the sublime issues of humanity, foremost of which are the issues of freedom and democracy.

It stressed that "the march of martyrdom for those lofty goals is a single, indivisible joint march, so we draw from this march our struggle values in order to achieve our goals and the aspirations of our people for freedom, democracy and building an ethical political society."

Therefore, we must live the reality of the martyrs, this reality that revives in us once again the spirit of responsibility, and increases our determination and steadfastness in our stances and steadfastness in the face of challenges and dangers. Preserving the gains achieved and the responsibilities we bear towards this reality and the injustice and tyranny we face as peoples.
