Afrin IDPs people celebrate Kurdish Language Day in Shahba canton
Afrin's IDPs people celebrated the Kurdish Language Day, and stressed the need to preserve and protect the mother tongue.
On the occasion of the Kurdish Language Day, May 15, the Education Body in Afrin and Shahba cantons organized a party today in the Sardam camp yard of the village of Tal Sawsan, attended by hundreds of students, teachers, and representatives of the Bodies and institutions of the Autonomous Administration.
The celebration began with a minute of silence in honor of the souls of the martyrs, then the co-chair of the Education Body, Zloukh Bakr, delivered a speech in which she blessed the Kurdish Language Day and recalled all the martyrs who fought for the revival of the Kurdish language.
She referred to the crimes of the Turkish occupation by targeting schools and spreading fear in the hearts of students in the villages located on the frontlines, and the unjust siege imposed by the Damascus government on Shahba canton, and preventing the passage of textbooks and stationery to Shahba, in an effort to obliterate the identity of peoples, and eliminate mother tongue.
At the end of her speech, Zloukh recalled the martyrs who sacrificed their lives to revive the language, and stressed to revive learning in the mother tongue, and to struggle in the face of the colonial powers that are trying to obliterate the Kurdish identity.
The celebration included several bands presenting lyrical performances, in addition to a theatrical performance on the necessity of learning the Kurdish mother tongue.
