NE Syria celebrates of Mother Language Day

On the occasion of the Kurdish Language Day, which falls today, May 15 of each year, many cultural and artistic events and activities were organized in separate areas of NE Syria in the Euphrates and Jazera regions, where hundreds of people from the region and representatives of the Education Body, intellectuals, researchers, students and teachers take part in it

The Teachers Training Institute in the city of Qamishlo organized an exhibition of drawings and handmade artifacts, in the center of the institute in Al-Bashiriya neighborhood, east of the city.

The exhibition included 88 paintings that simulate the reality of women and nature as well as the heritage of the region, as well as handicrafts made of clay, presented by 24 students from the drawing department at the Teachers Training Institute.

The schools administration in the city of Qamishlo also organized a celebration for the students and teachers of the city in the Martyr Zulal Munther Sports Hall.

The celebration began with a minute of silence in honor of the souls of the martyrs, followed by a speech by teacher Hanan Bakr, who congratulated the students and teachers on the day of the Kurdish language, and said: "Throughout history, the Kurdish language faced racist thought and attempts to melt it, because the occupiers of Kurdistan sought to erase and melt this language to exterminate the Kurds."

Hanan praised the role of Kurdish intellectuals and writers in protecting the Kurdish language from erasing, and she continued: "In order to protect this language, the Kurds tried by various means to stick to it by writing historical epics such as the epic of Mam, Zain and Ahmad Khani, and before that the poetry of Malay Jaziri, Faqi Tiran and many other well-known Kurdish poets."

In the Çil Agha district of Qamishlo canton, the Schools Administration organized an exhibition, in which it shed light on the heritage of the components of the district, in the Martyr Scheherazade School in the village of Dero Kafenki.

The exhibition included tools that were used in weaving, spinning, tools for grinding grain, millstones, and the font, in addition to displaying the hand-woven and embroidered folk costume, as well as displaying pottery and a butter-making tool called the saqqa (mashk), in addition to a special section for ancient musical instruments such as the flute and the tambour. .

It included a play that simulates the natural society by the students of the Martyr Scheherazade School.

This exhibition will continue until tomorrow evening.

The educational complex in Tamr district in al-Hasakah canton made a statement to the public opinion, on this occasion, read in front of the headquarters of the educational complex in Tal Tamr district by the teacher in the complex, Rudi Russo, in which the complex congratulated the leader Abdullah Ocalan, the Kurdish people, the families of the martyrs, and all students and teachers In the schools of the Autonomous Administration in NE Syria on the occasion of the Kurdish Language Day.

The students of the University of Kobani also organized a celebration of the occasion, on the stage of the Baki Khadou Center for Culture and Art in Kobani.

The celebration began with a minute of silence in honor of the souls of the martyrs, followed by a speech by the co-president of Kobani University, Sherine Muslim, in which she spoke about the importance of the Kurdish language day, and referred to the genocides that the Kurds were subjected to, and the massacres that were committed against them.

She noted that the Kurdish people today have a great responsibility to preserve the Kurdish language from extinction, and she said: "If our language is destroyed, we will be destroyed, so we must strive to live for our mother tongue."

During the ceremony, the University of Kobani presented an opinion poll on the extent of the demand for learning the Kurdish language, and the results tended to indicate that the majority of those questioned seek and love to learn the Kurdish language.

This evening, the city of Kobani will witness an artistic event and celebration to celebrate the Kurdish Language Day, which will be organized in Martyr Akid Square in the city of Kobani.

The Kurdish people celebrate the Kurdish Language Day on May 15 of each year, since the Kurdistan National Congress designated a day for the Kurdish language in 2006, as it coincides with the date of the issuance of the first issue of the Kurdish literary magazine “Hawar”, which was founded by Jaladat Badrakhan in Damascus, and its first issue was published in the May 15, 1932.
