​​​​​​​Washington targets a prominent al-Qaeda leader in area under Turkish occupation

A statement on Wednesday said that the US Central Command targeted a senior al-Qaeda mercenary with a strike in northwestern Syria.

The statement added, "At 11.42 am local time on May 3, the US Central Command forces carried out a unilateral strike in northwestern Syria targeting a senior al-Qaeda leader."

Central Command said it would provide more information "when details of the operation become available."

Residents of the area, which consists mostly of mountainous plains strewn with bushes and rocks, told Reuters they heard three explosions that sounded like air strikes.

The mercenaries of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, affiliated with the Turkish occupation state, control vast areas of land in northwestern Syria.

On Wednesday, SOHR reported that explosions were heard in Qorqanya town in the northern countryside of Idlib, caused by the targeting of a poultry farm in the town with several missiles, coinciding with the flight of an armed drone belonging to the "International Coalition" in the air, killing an unidentified person.
