displaced women: resistance is one of elements to thwart Turkish policy

Today, the Young Women’s Union in the Euphrates region held a symposium, within the camp of the displaced from Girê Spî, within the framework of educating women in light of the political and military conditions in Syria, and NE Syria, and the societal customs and traditions in which women pay the greatest price for the authoritarian mentality and neglecting its role in the development of society.

Dozens of displaced women living in the Girê Spî camp, administrators and members of the Young Women's Union participated in the symposium, which was organized under the slogan "Women, Life, Freedom...achieve Freedom".

The member of the Young Women's Union, Ferial Tammy explaining the reality of women in NE Syria and the developments they have achieved at all levels, especially in the political and military fields, and their prominent role in these fields, and highlighting their pioneering role in the July 19 revolution, which was crowned with the co-presidency system. .

It also touched on the dangers caused by the accumulation of authoritarian thought and outdated customs and traditions in society, including the marriage of minors  that resulted in the destruction of entire families.

She stressed the need to liberate thought with the will of women who sacrificed themselves for the sake of their societies to live in freedom and peace.

She noted that gender and social intolerance are among the main factors which affects social reality. She deplores the idea that sexual difference is the cause of any social issue with its negative aspects.

The symposium included a discussion of many points that were mentioned in the lecture, foremost among them the dangers of sexual intolerance, and inquiries about how to break the mentality of sexual intolerance, and how to seek social awareness between the two genders.

Likewise, discussing the reality of displacement, its causes and effects, and that it is a war policy aimed at bringing them to a stage of despair and surrender.

The participants vowed to continue the women's revolution that began on July 19, 2012, led by women, in order to live in freedom and dignity, away from the masculine thought and mentality emanating from power, in order to build a better society in which women have a prominent and important role.
