​​​​​​​Ramzi Sheikh Mous: Intersection of interests created the blockade, and the people alone pay the price

For nine months, the Damascus government has imposed a suffocating siege on al-Shahba district, the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, and has prevented the entry of basic materials, fuel and medicines to them.

To talk about this blockade, ANHA’s agency conducted an interview with a member of the Central Committee of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Party, Ramzi Sheikh Mous, who denounced in the course of his speech and said that it "stems from the intersection of interests between the Turkish and Syrian regimes."

Sheikh Mous pointed out that the tightening of the siege since last April 27, that is, two days after the talks that took place in Moscow between the defense ministers of (Syria, Turkey, Iran, and Russia), caused a complete cut off of the electric current in al-Shahba canton, and threatened the lives of thousands of residents when It has repercussions on many sectors, most notably the health sector.

Sheikh Mous described the Russian mediation to bring the Damascus government closer to the Turkish occupation as "a step that makes the people a sacrifice for intertwined international interests. With the approach of the Turkish elections, Erdogan is working to exterminate the Kurds in all possible ways and means, including the agreement with the Damascus government to impose a siege on the areas of al-Shahba and the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods."

While Sheikh Mous saw that the Damascus government is working to create openness to all countries of the world, including the Arab countries, and this is a step that requires a change in mentalities and the wrong policies that it has followed, yet it continues its exclusionary policies, not caring about change and preserving the rights of the people.

At the end of his speech, a member of the Central Committee of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Party predicted that "the Syrian crisis will not be resolved in light of the Damascus government's adoption of policies based on genocide and the imposition of a de facto authority through siege and other things," calling on all parties to work to take into consideration of the interest Syrian people to reach a final formula for the solution.
