The Turkish occupation state continues to settle the families of its mercenaries in the occupied Syrian regions instead of the residents of the region who were forcibly displaced, in the context of the continued demographic change of the occupied regions.

According to an informed source at the Girê Spî/Tal Abyad border crossing, the number of people Turkey has entered into the occupied city of Girê Spî has reached more than 21,000 people, since April of last year.

In late 2019, Turkey and its mercenaries occupied the city of Girê Spî and its countryside, and this caused the displacement of more than 100,000 people from the city and its countryside, according to the Girê Spî canton council.

In April 2022, Turkish President Erdogan announced the start of building settlements in the occupied areas of Syria, and that his authorities had begun the settlement process in the occupied areas.

The source indicated to ANHA’s agency that during the last 3 months, 9,181 settlers entered the city and its countryside.

During the year 2022, our agency documented the entry of 12,757 settlers through the border gate of Girê Spî/Tal Abyad, and they hail from the cities of (Homs-Aleppo-Idlib and Eastern Ghouta).

They were distributed by the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries to the homes and villages of the forcibly displaced.

The resettlement coincides with Turkey's work to build settlements with the funds of Qatari, Pakistani and Afghani associations in the western side of the city center of Girê Spî and the town of Ain al-Arous, on the lands of the displaced that were confiscated from them by the so-called "Tal Abyad Local Council".
