Kurdish Red Crescent provides aid for those affected by earthquake in Sheikh Maqsoud- Ashrasih

Since the earthquake of February 6 in Bakur (Northern Kurdistan) and Turkey, and several regions of North and East Syria were affected, the Kurdish Red Crescent has combined efforts to provide relief to those affected.

The Kurdish Red Crescent, Afrin branch, provided medical and in-kind assistance to the affected people in al-Shahba district, Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in Aleppo.

About this, the co-chair of the Kurdish Red Crescent, Afrin and al-Shahba branch, Hassan Nabo, spoke to ANHA’s agency, and referred at the beginning of his speech to the siege imposed on al-Shahba canton for more than 5 years, which led to an exacerbation of the situation at all levels in the region.

Hassan Nabo indicated that with the collapse of a residential building in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood (on January 22), which led to the loss of 15 citizens' lives, and after the earthquake that struck the area, the Kurdish Red Crescent crews mobilized to provide assistance to the families of the victims and the injured.

Nebo explained that they in the Red Crescent covered the expenses of the injured from the earthquake and the collapsed residential building in Sheikh Maqsoud.

Nebo thanked the people of Sulaymaniyah for standing by the displaced from Afrin in the camps in al-Shahba, and with the people of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, by providing them with aid. He confirmed that they distributed medicines and medical supplies to the medical points and Avrin Hospital to provide them to patients in al-Shahba and Aleppo.

The co-chair of the Kurdish Red Crescent, Afrin branch, Hassan Nabo, touched on the assistance they provided to the families arriving in al-Shahba canton, and explained: "We provided what we could of assistance to those affected by the earthquake, especially the families arriving from the city of Aleppo to al-Shahba canton, by increasing the number of tents in 3 camps and equipping them from all sides."

Hassan Nabo confirmed that they are working on implementing service and health projects in al-Shahba canton, and providing the 4 medical points of the Kurdish Red Crescent in the canton with medicines, medical supplies and doctors.
