The General Command of the Syrian Democratic Forces issued a statement to the public opinion, on the occasion of the 4th anniversary of the elimination of ISIS mercenaries geographically in their last stronghold, represented by the liberation of the town of al-Baghouz on the 23rd of March 2019.

Today, March 23, marks the fourth anniversary of the elimination of the terrorist organization “ISIS” in its last strongholds in the town of “al-Baghouz”, following a historic resistance waged by our forces, the Syrian Democratic Forces, and our people in North and East Syria, with the support of the Global Coalition Forces, and to write the end of the terrorist organization In it, our people and the world breathe a sigh of relief, after being liberated from the greatest danger that threatened their life and future.

On this occasion; We stand with reverence and respect before the souls of the martyrs who, with their sacrifices, paved the way for us to victory. We also highly value the resistance of our heroic fighters who stood firm on the frontiers of this land, and behind them our people who stood firmly with their military and security forces in all stages of the struggle against the terrorist organization, to achieve this victory.

The resistance waged by our forces against the terrorist organization “ISIS” stunned the whole world, especially in “al-Baghouz”, where the terrorist organization thrust all its military force and its mightiest terrorist elements into the battle. Realizing that it was its decisive and final battle, it resorted to practicing the most powerful types of its terrorism, at all levels, including the use of civilians as human shields to save itself from the inevitable fate that awaits it. Numerous opportunities for the release of civilians and surrendering themselves, as it announced several times, and for the aforementioned reasons, cease-fire operations, after which civilian convoys began to flow towards our forces, and thousands of terrorist organization members surrendered to our forces.

The terrorist organization still poses an imminent danger to our regions and the world, especially through its terrorist cells, as it seeks to restore its crumbling organization, revive its dreams again, restore its geographical control over some areas, and pose a danger to the lives of the population, and the recent attacks launched by those cells on al-Hol Camp and the city of Raqqa and before it the “al-Sina’a” Prison in the city of al-Hasakah, all of which are indications confirming that its danger still exists, which requires greater cooperation from the international community, especially by the Global Coalition Forces to fight terrorism, with our forces, by increasing military support and security coordination in accordance with the level of danger. terrorist organization and to dry up the sources of the organization and eliminate the conditions conducive to it.

On this occasion, we also find it important, and in order for the process of combating the terrorist organization to go well and to be able to defeat the organization once and for all, for the international community to play its role in putting pressure on some regional countries that still support ISIS and provide it with all the reasons for its survival and enable it to re-establish itself. Organizing its ranks and achieving expansion, especially the Turkish occupation state, where the areas occupied by it have become a safe haven for its terrorist cells and leaders, starting from Afrin and Idlib and passing through the areas of al-Bab, Jarabulus, Serêkaniye / Ras al-Ain and Tal Abyad.

It is also important for the international community to increase its support for the reconstruction of what was destroyed by terrorism, by intensifying its efforts in the fields of health, building infrastructure, education and other fields, and in all regions of North and East Syria, and certainly that such work will speed up the final elimination of the terrorist organization.
