PYD councils: International investigation must be opened to hold Turkey accountable for its crimes

The councils of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) demanded the opening of an international investigation to hold the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries accountable for their crimes against the Syrian people.

Today, the councils of the Democratic Union Party in the cities and districts of NE Syria made a joint statement about the massacre committed by the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries in the Jandris district of occupied Afrin, which claimed the lives of 4 citizens: "Farah al-Din Othman (43 years old) - Ismail Othman ( 38 years old) - Muhammad Ismail Othman (18 years old) - Muhammad Othman (42 years old).

In the city of Qamishlo, the statement was read in the presence of dozens of the city’s residents, along with members of civil society institutions, Kongra Star, and the Democratic Union Party, in front of the party council located in the Qudourbek neighborhood, east of the city of Qamishlo, by the co-chair of the Council of the Democratic Union Party in the Corniche neighborhood of Qamishlo, Ali Raash.

In Amuda district, the statement was read by the member, Khalat Ibrahim, in front of the party center in the district.

In Tirbespiyê district, the statement was read by the co-chair of the Democratic Union Party in Tirbespiyê, Hadiya Shamu, in front of the party's office in the district.

In Gîl Agha district It was also recited by Amra Muhammad al-Hussein in the center of the district.

In Dêrik district, the statement was read by the member of the Democratic Union Party, Muhammad Saeed, in front of Kongra Star Center in Dêrik.

In the district of Tal Brak, it was recited by the member Muhammad Fares, in front of the party building located in the center of the district, in the presence of party members and civil institutions.

In the district of Tel Hamis, the statement was read in front of the district council building in the center of Tel Hamis, by the co-chair of the Democratic Union Party in the district, Ghaleb Al-Saadoun.

In the city of Manbij, the statement was read in front of the Democratic Union Party building in the city by the member, Ismail Alo.

In the city of Raqqa, the statement was read in front of the leader's garden at the southwestern edge of the city, by the member, Nayrouz Muslim.

The text of the joint statement stated:

"On the night of Newroz, the mercenaries continue to commit their crimes in the occupied Afrin and in the wounded Jandris district by killing 4 residents of Afrin while lighting the Newroz flame to celebrate the National Day.

We in the General Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), while condemning this terrorist crime in the strongest terms, hold the Turkish regime, the factions of terrorism and mercenaries, and the so-called coalition with all its components responsible for the spilled blood in Jandris and Afrin, and we demand that the criminals be held accountable and brought to justice.

We also call on the United Nations and the UN Security Council to force Erdogan's Turkey to end its occupation of Afrin, Serêkani / Ras al-Ain and Girê Spî / Tel Abyad, and from all occupied Syrian regions, and to open an international investigation into the war crimes committed against our people from the beginning of the crisis until the moment.

We promise our people and all components of the proud Syrian people that we will continue our legitimate struggle until every inch of the occupied territories is liberated.
