​​​​​​​AA of Jazera region: Jendrisa massacre took place by orders of Turkish army

Today, the Democratic Autonomous Administration of Jazera region made a statement to the public opinion, denouncing the massacre committed by the mercenaries of (Ahrar al-Sharqiya) against 4 citizens in Jendrisa district, affiliated to the occupied Afrin Canton, on March 20, under the pretext of lighting the flame of Newroz.

The statement was read in the presence of representatives of the Legislative Council, the Judicial Council and the Executive Council, in addition to the Bodies of the Executive Council, in front of the council building in Amuda district, by the co-chair of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of Jazera region, Nazira Gouriye.

The statement reads:

"On the eve of the Newroz holiday, a terrorist group affiliated to the armed factions (Ahrar al-Sharqiya), which falls under the umbrella of the so-called National Army, committed a horrific massacre in Jendrisa district, claiming the lives of 4 citizens of the remaining Kurdish civilians in the district; because they lit the fire of Newroz. This massacre comes in the context of a series of violations that occur daily in the occupied territories by these groups, which follow orders from the Turkish army and its security services and the Coalition, the political cover of the occupation.

This is not the first time that these heinous acts have been committed, and it will not be the last, as long as these areas live under occupation and under the mercy of those armed groups that emerged from the womb of terrorist organizations (ISIS and Al-Qaeda)".

The statement confirmed, "The aim of all these crimes and actions is to bring about a radical change in the demographic engineering and gradually empty the region of its original inhabitants; to make way for the implementation of their settlement projects and to make the occupied areas a breeding ground for terrorism and a scene for their crimes.

What is happening in the areas occupied by Turkey comes within the framework of an organized occupation project and a clear policy that relies on displacement, killing, creating civil wars and building settlements, where grave violations and daily crimes are committed by those organizations and at the behest of the Turkish state in light of a shameful and suspicious international silence, ignoring principles and standards of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the laws that protect the rights of peoples on their lands and the principles of public safety for civilians in light of armed conflicts in accordance with international humanitarian law.

It stressed, "The steadfastness of our people in Afrin is evidence of their attachment to their land and their belief in their just cause, despite the policy pursued by Turkey in the region and the terrorist factions and organizations that follow it publicly. This steadfastness in the face of aggression will force the occupier to review its policy and force it to withdraw sooner or later".

The Democratic Autonomous Administration in Jazera region, during its statement , mourned the families of martyrs and wished a speedy recovery for the wounded as a result of the recent attack on civilians, and condemned these criminal acts committed against the people of Afrin.

The Democratic Autonomous Administration called on "the people in Syria in general and NE Syria in particular to stand by the displaced from the regions (Afrin, Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî) and other occupied areas until a safe return is achieved without occupation."

It also called on "international bodies and international organizations, to stop supporting the Turkish state's policy in the Middle East region, as it is the main factor for instability and the funder of "terrorism", and to put pressure on it and its mercenaries to withdraw from the occupied areas to make way for peaceful solutions and initiatives that are proposed to resolve the Syrian crisis and work to create appropriate conditions for the return of the indigenous people to their areas".

After the Jendirsa massacre, several villages and districts in occupied Afrin witnessed protests and demonstrations, calling for the need to end the occupation.
