​​​​​​​Al-Aser Office submits new request to Supreme Constitutional Court to meet leader Ocalan

After the earthquake that struck Maraş on February 6, Al-Aser Office submitted a request to the Republican Public Prosecution Office in Bursa and the Imrali Prison Directorate to allow the families and lawyers of the leader Abdullah Ocalan, Omar Khairy Konar, and Hamili Yeldrim and Weysi Aktaş) to meet with them.

As a result of not responding to the request, the lawyers submitted, on February 14, a request to the Execution Court in Bursa.

The lawyers, expressed that their request came on the background of a natural disaster, so it shouldn't be rejected, so they applied to the First Supreme Criminal Court in Bursa.

On the 22nd of the same month, the court announced that the execution court's decision was in line with the "rules and laws" and rejected the lawyers' request to meet the leader Abdullah Ocalan.

After that, the lawyers referred to Articles 20, 40 and 17 of the Constitution, which state "the right to personal life and respect for family life," the right to obtain rights and freedom, and "violation of torture and harm," and on March 16, they submitted a request to the Supreme Constitutional Court.

The request referred to existing laws that include the rights of detainees and convicts, the prohibition of torture and ill-treatment, and the right of detainees to communicate with their families in cases of natural disasters.

In their request, the lawyers highlighted the 24years of isolation and demanded that their clients' right to meet with their families and lawyers be respected.
