AA calls for opening of Tel Koçer crossing

 Today, Tuesday, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria announced, through an official statement, that it had received an aid convoy from the people of Sulaymaniyah to those affected by the earthquake, and indicated that there are 4 other trucks still awaiting the approval of the Iraqi government to cross.

The statement was read by the deputy co-chair of the Social Affairs and Labor Authority in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Bahaa Ali, at the Tal Koçer border crossing.

 At the outset, the statement thanked the people of Sulaymaniyah in Başûr (southern Kurdistan) for standing by the people of northern and eastern Syria after the catastrophe of the earthquake that struck Bakur (Northern Kurdistan) and Turkey, and affected parts of Syria, on February 6.

 The statement confirmed that 25 trucks of aid had crossed through the (Tal Koçer / Al-Yarubiyah) crossing, and that 4 other trucks were still awaiting the approval of the Iraqi government to cross.

 The statement indicated that the Tel Koçer crossing, which is located on the Syrian-Iraqi border, was closed in early 2020 after Moscow and Beijing used their veto in the UN Security Council to close the crossing to the passage of United Nations aid, and opened only to this convoy and returned closed.

 The statement pointed out that it prevents the entry of aid through this crossing, despite the presence of many camps within northern and eastern Syria.

He called on the international forces and humanitarian organizations to operate for the opening of the Tel Kujir border crossing and provide humanitarian assistance.
