​​​​​​​Shahba resorts to classroom tents, with the inability to restore the schools affected by earthquake

After a tour by specialized engineers under the direction of the Afrin and al-Shahba canton councils, it was confirmed that 15 schools were not ready, and the council decided to suspend working hours in them for a period of 3 weeks.

5,500 students of various educational levels were receiving their education in those schools affected by the earthquake. Keen to complete their education, the Afrin and al-Shahba canton councils held a meeting to discuss alternative solutions. The council wanted to restore those damaged schools and put in place radical solutions to the problem, but the siege imposed by the Damascus Government on al-Shahba district and the prevention of the passage of building materials prompted the council to think of other solutions.

The council decided to set up classroom tents in order to complete the teaching process. In this context, 33 tents were erected in the Martyr Agid School in Al-Ahdath district, and 20 tents were erected in the Martyr Kendal School in the village of Tal Qrah, and another 50 tents may be erected in another place in the canton until the tents are available, according to the co-chair of the Education Authority in the Afrin and al-Shahba canton councils, Zlokh Bakr.

On the authority’s agenda will be the restoration of damaged schools, if the capabilities are available, according to the co-chair of the Education Authority in the Afrin and al-Shahba canton councils, who called on the Damascus Government to immediately lift the siege on the canton.
