Rafik Al-Salhi calls for lawsuit at UNSC against Turkey after cutting water

The parliamentarian, Rafik Al-Salhi called on the Iraqi government to file a lawsuit against the Turkish occupation state after cutting off water from Iraq.

On Sunday, the representative of the Al-Sadiqun bloc and the member of the Parliamentary Agriculture, Water and Marshes Committee, Rafik Al-Salhi, called for filing a lawsuit against the Turkish occupation state before the Security Council over cutting off water from Iraq, and prevention its prescribed water share, in accordance with international law.

Al-Salihi said in a press interview, reported by Roj News Agency, that "the government must file a case against Turkey with the Security Council, regarding the water file."

He added, "The low levels of water coming into Iraq from Turkey cause environmental pollution, destroy food security, displace the marshes, and eliminate livestock."

He pointed out that "Turkey is waging water and military war against Iraq, cutting off water and making the Iraqi people thirsty, which means that it will cause a disaster for Iraq and expose it to drought."
