Fourth Division prevents humanitarian aid from Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh

On February 10, the Autonomous Administration sent a convoy of humanitarian aid to the affected areas in Aleppo over earthquake through the Al-Tayha crossing between the areas of the Autonomous Administration and the Damascus government, while the Damascus government has not yet allowed this aid to reach Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods.

In light of the difficult living conditions in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, especially those affected by the February 6 earthquake, the Fourth Division continues to tighten its siege on the two neighborhoods and does not allow the passage of humanitarian aid.

The co-chair of the General Council for the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, Welat Mamo, said: "The Syrian state always looks at the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh from a political and security point of view, so it always links all service matters related to the two neighborhoods with politics."

Mamo stressed that "The Fourth Division, even before the earthquake, was interfering with all the life matters of the people living in the two neighborhoods, and imposing taxes on anything that enters the two neighborhoods. The siege is suffocating and they do not allow anything to enter."

Mamo added, "The Fourth Division and the Turkish occupation have not changed their mentalities, in addition to the occupation bombing, there is also the Fourth Division's siege on the two neighborhoods."

Mamo confirmed, "Sometimes they allow organizations for political purposes. An organization entered Sheikh Maqsoud, this is true, but its entry was for filming and propaganda only, and it did not provide anything to those affected.

Mamo made the point clear that the Autonomous Administration had declared its readiness to assist all the stricken areas on Syrian territory, but so far they have not allowed aid to cross into Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods.

At the end of his speech, Welat Mamo called for an immediate lifting of the siege on the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods.
