​​​​​​​Abdel-Mehbash: Political differences must be neutralized, focus on humanitarian situation

The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria did not hesitate to send humanitarian aid to the occupied northwestern regions of Syria, and the areas controlled by the Damascus government, to help those affected by the earthquake that struck the region, but the failure of the Damascus government, the Turkish occupation state, to respond to the Autonomous Administration's call impedes the arrival of aid towards the impacted areas.

The co-chair of the Executive Council, Abd Hamed Al-Mehbash, said in a statement to our agency, "In light of the horrific disaster that struck the region and claimed the lives of thousands of missing persons, whether in northwest Syria, inside Syria, or in Turkey, I extend my condolences to the families of the earthquake victims in general."

He explained, "We are in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, and since the first day of the disaster, we have stated that we are in the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria, ready to provide aid and humanitarian aid to our Syrian people, whether they are in northwestern Syria or inside Syria."

And Al-Mehbash stated, "There is a humanitarian convoy provided by the Autonomous Administration heading to northern and western Syria, and now the convoy is at the crossing (Um Jalud in Manbij), and those concerned in the Autonomous Administration accompany the convoy until it arrives, and we contacted an international party in order to secure the arrival of this convoy, as well Now a convoy is being prepared to be sent towards the areas inside Syria."

He noted “we addressed to entities in north and west Syria or the Damascus government to receive our aids, but we did not receive any response at this moment. We had to contact international bodies to deliver the aid, and today part of the aid will arrive in north and west Syria."

'Political alliances must be neutralized'

Abdul-Mehbash stressed, "We must neutralize all political, security and military differences. Today we are going through an exceptional phase, and our decisions as Syrians must also be exceptional decisions due to the magnitude of this horrific humanitarian catastrophe that has pained and distressed us as Syrians, in which we lost thousands of children, the elderly, women and men. Therefore, all political difference must be neutralized.

He added, "Our efforts today, as all Syrians, must be focused on the humanitarian situation, providing relief to our people in Syria wherever they are." He pointed out, "We, in turn, have opened all the crossings towards the Syrian interior in order to deliver relief aid to the impacted areas."

Al-Mehbash stressed that there should be a rapid air bridge towards the affected areas, and called on all countries to work within their humanitarian duty to help and support the Syrians affected by the earthquake.

At the end of his speech, Abd Hamid Al-Mehbash stressed, "What the Autonomous Administration can provide, it will provide, whether in terms of fuel or other aid." He added, "Currently, a campaign is being organized to provide relief aid and all requirements, and that the Autonomous Administration will be proactive in providing aid to our people in Syria in general."
