​​​​​​​Turkish mercenaries escape their ISIS counterparts from a prison in occupied Afrin

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights SOHR sources learned that about 20 ISIS mercenaries were smuggled out of Rajo prison in occupied Afrin, with the complicity of prison officials.

According to the sources of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, those who were smuggled from Rajo prison are only ISIS mercenaries, with the malicious complicity of prison officials, in exchange for sums of money ranging between 1,000 - 3,000 USD for one member, while some paid sums of money that reached 10, 000 USD until they managed to escape.

The prison houses dozens of citizens from occupied Afrin who have been kidnapped before.

The prison is located close to the Turkish-Syrian border, and Rajo has a heavy security presence at the entrances and exits of the district, and it is impossible for prisoners to escape easily, except with the complicity of prison officials.

The Turkish occupation state may have imprisoned a few mercenaries from ISIS, but the senior mercenary leaders are moving freely in the Syrian regions occupied by Turkey.

The former leader of ISIS mercenaries, Abu Ibrahim al-Qurashi, was killed in February 2022 in an American raid in Idlib, which is under the control of Jabhet al-Nusra, which is supported by Turkey. His predecessor, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, was also killed in Idlib in October 2019.
