​​​​​​​127 ISIS’ elements arrested during Revenge for the Martyrs of Raqqa

The Joint Operations Command of the "Revenge for the Martyrs of Raqqa" campaign held a press conference, Thursday, in front of the Internal Security Forces center in the al-Diriya neighborhood, northwest of Raqqa city, in which it announced the end of the combing operations for the "Revenge for the martyrs of Raqqa" campaign.

The statement of completion was read in Arabic by a member of the General Command of the Internal Security Forces for North and East Syria, Brigadier General Ali al-Hassan, and in Kurdish by the commander of the Women's Protection Units, Ronahi Afrin.

The text of the statement read:

"The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria and the Syrian Democratic Forces, with the support and air cover of the International Coalition, launched a large-scale security campaign in the period between January 25 and February 01, targeting dozens of possible points and dens in Raqqa and its countryside, Tabqa and its countryside, Karama, Sirin and their countryside, and combing large areas where the operations took place according to the plan drawn for them and the specified time and achieved immediate and effective results against the movements and plans of the terrorist organization.

The "Revenge for the Martyrs of Raqqa" campaign was launched in response to the calls of the notables and sheikhs of the clans and the people of the region and based on information about the increase in the movements of the terrorist organization's cells and the extortion of the population, especially after the treacherous terrorist attack that targeted a center of the Internal Security Forces and a prison containing the ISIS’ detainees in al-Diriya neighborhood of Raqqa on December 26. In addition to striving to organize; To restructure its cells and change its tactics in targeting and terrorist actions to focus on actions that cause chaos in cities and actions that aim to flee its members.

127 arrested

During the surprise raids and combing operations, the forces arrested 127 wanted and suspected terrorist cell members, including the governor of Raqqa state, called "Atallah al-Mithan", who was appointed to manage the affairs and affairs of the so-called "Raqqa state". The terrorist cell that planned and provided logistical support for the terrorist attack on the center of the Internal Security Forces, whereby four people involved in smuggling the wounded of the attack and providing them with hideouts were arrested, as well as preparing explosives for the attack.

A quantity of weapons and ammunition was also seized, and a large amount of books and special documents were found, which were the focus of the Sharia courses carried out by the terrorist organization ISIS in spreading extremist terrorist ideology.

During the combing operation, the forces were able to seize the elements of the terrorist cells, especially the dangerous elements, and destroy the channels of communication between them, as well as remove their potential hideouts, including the elements that facilitate and cover up the cells and the recruitment and polarization networks.
