Survivor of building' collapse in Sheikh Maqsoud tells the details of the tragedy

Jamal Jaarour, a survivor of building' collapse in Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo, narrated the details of the tragedy, and said: "I was asleep when my daughter-in-law woke me up to say that the building had begun to collapse."

On the 22nd of this January, Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood witnessed the collapse of a 5-storey residential building, inhabited by 7 Kurdish and Arab families have 18 people, causing the loss of 16 people, including 6 children and 6 women.

Only 2 people, Jamal Jaarour (60 years old) and Mustafa Ibo (17 years old), survived this incident, but they were injured and subsequently underwent surgeries

Jamal Jaarour, who lost 6 people from his family, his sister Wesal, his son Subhi, his daughter-in-law Maysa, and their children, Hamida, Jamal, and Youssef Jaarour, and he spoke to ANHA agency about the building' collapse.

He said, "I was asleep when my daughter-in-law woke me up to say that the building had begun to collapse, and that my son Subhy was starting the car so we could get out."

It is noteworthy that the Internal Security Forces in Aleppo revealed, on January 23, the results of their preliminary investigations into the cause of the building's collapse:

"1-In general, during the war, the neighborhood was subjected to intense bombardment with heavy weapons and aircraft, which led to cracks in the buildings in the neighborhood.

2-These cracks led to the presence of water leakage through building, which led to its sudden collapse."

The forces confirmed that investigations are still ongoing.
