​​​​​​​HPG: Merdin massacre took place against patriotic people in a Contra attack

The Media Center of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) issued a statement regarding the Merdin massacre and said: "Five citizens from southern Kurdistan were brutally targeted on the evening of January 19 in Merdin, as this attack caused five people to lose their lives. At first, we extend our condolences to the families and relatives of those who lost their lives." We offer our condolences to the people of Rekani and all the people of Kurdistan.

At 00:03 on January 19, unknown persons targeted a car bearing an Iraqi plate on the Ipek road between Qawsir and Nusaybin (belonging to Merdin) at Sargekhan Palace, and it turned out that the car belonged to a Kurdish family residing in Başûr (Southern Kurdistan).

The People's Defense Forces, in its statement, confirmed: "This family, against whom the murder was committed, is patriots, and they are from the Rikani clan. The occupying Turkish state made many times their villages and regions a target for its attacks, and those attacks caused the death of many of them, so our people became a target of the Turkish state, and it believes that the last incident There is a black incident in Merdin, and it is remarkable that the Turkish state is trying to present this incident as a judicial case, and the prosecution decided to keep it confidential, so this could be an attack by the Contra and came within the framework of eliminating the Kurds, and we, the People’s Defense Forces, confirm that we will follow up on this incident and we will demand accountability, and once We offer our condolences to our patriotic people.”
