​​​​​​​ Khaled: Syria needs a Syrian national agreement

 During the past few weeks, the Syrian crisis has witnessed rapid changes on the political level.  Most notably, the rapprochement between the Turkish occupation state and the Damascus government, prompted by Russia, amid great popular rejection and anger.

 In a new comment on the Syrian-Turkish rapprochement, and the two parties' efforts to raise the level of meetings between them, the co-chair of the Executive Council of the AANES, Berivan Khaled, said in a statement to our agency, "The rapprochement is at the expense of the Syrians."

 And she added: "Regarding the rapprochement or the so-called normalization, it is not possible as easily as Erdogan is talking about, because we know that any Syrian or Turkish approach in this context will only be at the expense of the Syrian people, although  both sides take care of the Syrian people as an excuse for them.

 She pointed to the repercussions of the rapprochement, saying: "We will be facing new developments that will further complicate the Syrian crisis and undermine efforts for a solution and stability. It will push to divide the country, consolidate the Turkish occupation, shed more Syrian blood, and destroy the Syrians' hopes for change and their aspirations for the future Syria."

 Justifying this, "the Turkish occupation state is the one that supported chaos for its interests, so we do not believe that either side will be keen on Syria and its future before their interests, especially since Erdogan is on the verge of elections, in the middle of this year, and Damascus is looking to refloat it regionally and internationally in any way."

 And she noted the Autonomous Administration's clear position regarding the Syrian crisis, "We are in the Autonomous Administration, against any agreement in the interest of our people and the entire Syrian people, as we are keen to provide an atmosphere for a democratic solution, but some people's conclusion of deals at the expense of Syria will worsen the situation and push Syria towards division."   There will be a new repositioning of terrorism in light of the understandings that occur far from the desire and will of the Syrians. Our regions are Syrian regions affected and affected by any Syrian development, but we also have the options of steadfastness and survival in order to achieve the goals of our people in democratic change.

Khaled added: "The Syrian-Turkish rapprochement, if successful, will have a direct impact on northern and eastern Syria. There is talk about the Adana agreement and the like, which, if approved by Damascus, would legitimize the Turkish occupation in Syria, and unleash its hand again in the region." 

 And she continued: "The Autonomous Administration project is also targeted by the Turkish occupation state, but it seems that Erdogan's directions at this stage are tactical; the aim of them is the elections, and we do not rule out that there will be  a new Turkish attack on our regions, in the event that no tangible results are reached with Damascus.

 Khaled pointed to what Syria needs, instead of rapprochement between the two parties, "The situation in Syria now requires an internal Syrian national agreement, as well as unified international support for this approach in the face of efforts to resort to bilateral deals between any party without taking the opinion of the Syrian people, which will be a new beginning."  towards a serious stage.

Khaled called on "the forces that relied on the Turkish occupation state, since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, to reconsider their accounts and realize that it was a card used by Turkey for its purposes," noting that "the Turkish occupation state's abdication of mercenaries is inevitable," if not now, then it will be in a period of  Al-Furat, in the sense that those Syrians who count on the Turkish occupation state are very wrong;  Because it has never supported any trend in the region, or even in the world, that supports the view of peoples in building their future;  Rather, it has always invested the circumstances for its interests, and this was clearly evident in its role in Syria.”
