YPJ statement on the fifth anniversary of the attack on Afrin

The General Command of the Women's Protection Units issued a written statement today, on the fifth anniversary of the start of the Turkish attack on the occupied Afrin Canton.

The statement reads:

"On the fifth anniversary of the attack on Afrin, we will fight with the spirit of the martyrs of Resistance of the Age, and we will avenge our martyrs with the patriotic spirit of our people and end the occupation on our land.

The colonial mentality that denies the will of the people and is hostile to democratic values seeks, through occupation and massacres, to eliminate the people seeking freedom. The attacks launched by the Turkish occupation state and its threats comes from the authoritarian mentality. Despite it, our people are resisting alongside the fighters in the arenas of struggle for freedom. During the Turkish air strikes on the 19th of last November, our people, from Shahba to Kobani and to Dêrik, proved their position, their adherence to their land, and their adoption of their revolution. We will continue the struggle as long as there is one inch of our land under occupation. We promise our people and our comrades who were martyred in Afrin and the martyrs of People's Hammer Campaign that we will not leave our land to the occupiers."
