​​​​​​​Turkish occupation company raises price of electric watts in occupied Girê Spî

Within the framework of the policy of restriction and exploitation of the difficult living conditions of the residents of the occupied territories after the occupation of their canton on the 9th of October 2019, the Turkish Electricity Company, which has a monopoly on supplying the city of Girê Spî/Tal Abyad with electricity, raised the price of one watt to approximately 4 Turkish liras.

At the beginning of 2021, the Turkish Electricity Company concluded a contract with the so-called "Tal Abyad Local Council", which is mainly affiliated with the Turkish occupation, to supply the occupied canton with electricity on the basis of 128 watts at 100 Turkish liras, to reduce the percentage of watts to 35 by 100 in June of last year. Turkish lire.

And the occupation forced the people in the areas it occupies in Syria to deal in the Turkish currency in their transactions and imposed costs on them in Turkish lira.

It should be noted that the occupied areas witnessed massive protests in the middle of last year in response to the electricity company raising the price of one watt and its monopoly on electricity in cooperation with the so-called local councils affiliated with the occupation, which resulted in the death of a citizen and the injury of a number of others in the areas of Aleppo occupied by Turkey.
