The diplomacy led by the Autonomous Administration during the year 2022 achieved openness at the global level, and was able to clarify the visions of the Autonomous Administration and the project adopted by the people of North and East Syria.
The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) and the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) waged a political and diplomatic struggle during the year 2022, and they received dozens of diplomatic and political delegations, in addition to conducting dozens of foreign visits, holding forums, seminars and mass meetings in order to solve the Syrian crisis, introducing the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, and holding understanding agreements with many democratic forces.

During the year 2022, more than 70 official delegations visited the areas of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, and they discussed with the administration the importance of the Autonomous Administration, in addition to the current situation in the region, the siege imposed on it, the fight against ISIS mercenary cells, and the Turkish attacks that are trying to revive ISIS mercenaries, in addition to some delegations to receive their nationals from mercenaries.

The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria focused its diplomatic efforts on two main pillars. The first is developing relations with communities and non-governmental institutions, as well as efforts to develop relations with official governmental and international institutions.

In a related context, the Syrian Democratic Council SDC held many diplomatic meetings at home and abroad, and held a series of meetings, seminars and forums. We are in the process of unifying the visions of the Syrians and finding effective ways to solve the Syrian crisis, which has been exacerbating day after day since 2011.

The Presidency of the Assistant Chairperson of the Commissioner for the Rights of the Child to the President of Russia, Elena Alexandrova, and his assistant, Sergei Igorevich, met with the Autonomous Administration in the Department of External Relations in the city of Qamishlo.

The Department of Foreign Relations received a delegation from Austria, headed by Eva Dzizich, a member of the Austrian Parliament for the Green Party, researcher and academic Thomas Schmiedenfer.

A French delegation that included Bernard Kouchner, former French Foreign Minister, Patrice Franceschi, a writer and author specializing in Kurdish affairs, Roxane de Maisonneuve, a French writer, and Khaled Issa, the representative of the Autonomous Administration in France, met with representatives of the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria.

A delegation from the Russian Federation, headed by Elena Alexandrova, Assistant Chairperson of the Child Rights Commission of the President of Russia, visited the Department of Foreign Relations in Qamishlo.

A delegation from the French Foreign Ministry headed by Stéphane Romatet, head of the Crisis Management and Support Center at the French Foreign Ministry, visited NE, Syria. In order to discuss the political and service situation in the region, and to recover the French nationals who are in the camps of NE, Syria.

Handing over 538 ISIS families and children to their countries

During some diplomatic meetings, the Autonomous Administration handed over a group of 538 ISIS families and children to its countries. According to official documents signed between the administration and the countries receiving its nationals.

The representative of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria in Europe, Abdul Karim Omar, held several meetings in Strasbourg, France, with European parliamentarians within the Friends of the Kurds group, in addition to holding a press conference in cooperation with the Friends of the Kurds group.

July 3

Pierre Laurent, Vice-President of the French Senate, received in Paris a delegation from the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria. As a result of the siege imposed on the areas of administration, and the terrorist threats posed by ISIS through its sleeper cells.

November 29

The representative of the Autonomous Administration in Europe, Abdul Karim Omar, met with the Left Party bloc in the German Federal Parliament “Bundestag” in the parliament building in Berlin, the capital.

A delegation from the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria met in Luxembourg with the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee in the Luxembourg Parliament, Yves Crosten, and parliamentarian Natalie Oberweiss.

An American delegation visited Ghweran prison and al-Hol camp in al-Hasakah, and the cities of Kobani and Manbij.

November 6th

The Head of the Executive Council of the Syrian Democratic Council and members of the Presidency of the Council met with a delegation from the US government headed by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Ethan Goldrich, and the two sides discussed developments in the Syrian arena.

What has AANES diplomacy achieved so far?

In a statement to ANHA’s agency about the diplomatic work of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria; The representative of the Autonomous Administration in Europe, Abd al-Karim Omar, explained that the official diplomacy of the Autonomous Administration developed well during the year 2022, and he said: "After fighting ISIS mercenaries and defeating them geographically in NE, Syria, official diplomacy has developed significantly, and we can say: The Autonomous Administration gained almost official recognition at the European level and at the level of the countries involved in the Syrian affairs, such as Russia, America, Britain and France, and the Autonomous Administration is dealt with officially, and our diplomatic bodies meet with the foreign ministries officially in the event of any emergency or development in the region and at the level of Syria as well.

Omar referred to the opening and development of the Autonomous Administration's diplomatic relations with the institutions of the European Union and the United Nations, and stressed that the Autonomous Administration took good steps to develop social diplomacy, and developed its diplomatic relations well with international civil and human rights institutions such as Human Rights Watch and the Special Investigation Commission in Syria.

Omar explained the emergence of some difficulties and obstacles, and he bears part of them. Among them is the failure to develop official relations with the countries of the Middle East and the Arab region and the countries that influence the Syrian file.

The Autonomous Administration led a remarkable diplomatic struggle during the year 2022, especially in light of the Turkish threats and attacks on NE, Syria, and the European and international countries are aware of the seriousness of the threats and attacks. The European state included the crimes of the Turkish state in NE, Syria and the places that were targeted by it, and the repercussions of the Turkish attacks on the security and stability of NE, Syria, and the fight against ISIS mercenaries, in addition to the Turkish occupation state making a demographic change in the areas it occupies.
