​​​​​​​Hakmat al-Habib: Russia is interested in its aspirations at expense of Syrians

he co-chair of the Legislative Council of the Autonomous Administration in al-Jazira, Hakmat al-Habib, assessed the Russian role in Syria and its endeavours to re-impose a centralized regime on all Syrian geography, as well as its endeavours to normalize relations between the Government of Damascus and the Turkish occupying state.

"Russia has a big problem dealing with the Ukrainian file and on that basis has developed its relations with Turkey until it has reached very high levels, so Russia seeks to flirt with the AKP to attract it from NATO," Habib said.

"Russia seeks to reproduce the regime by developing international relations from the Turkish gate and away from the interests of the Syrian people. The Russian state has its own aspirations away from the interests of the Syrian people."

Relations with neighbouring countries should not be at the expense of the Syrian people

Habib called on the Government of Damascus to adopt a unified attitude towards all forces occupying Syrian territory. The authority in Damascus must have the same direction as the Turkish State as an occupying state with aspirations in Syria."

Habib did not refuse to establish relations with neighbouring States "but not at the expense of Syrians and the Syrian national interest.”

In the same vein, Habib criticized the weak position of the Government of Damascus against Turkish attacks on Syrian territory. "Damascus's position is so shy that there has been no official foreign statement or complaint to the Security Council about the recent Turkish bombing of infrastructure sites that benefit all Syrians.

Dialogue within the national agenda

Habib reiterated the position of AANES open to any dialogue leading to an end to the Turkish occupation and a political solution to the Syrian crisis "Damascus means the same as Qamishlo means the same as Deirk and Deir ez-Zor. We are Syrians belonging to this homeland. There is a project in the North and East of Syria that we see as the spot of light to solve the Syrian crisis. We are with the radical Syrian solution and with the resolution of all outstanding issues with neighbouring countries within one Syria liberated by all Turkish occupation and its gangs.”

"Any convergence (the Government of Damascus and the Turkish occupying state) will enter the region into new conflicts, on this basis, the worthiest and the best for Damascus to open channels of serious dialogue with Syrians, and we in the AANES are ready to dialogue within the national agenda and within a democratic, decentralized Syria where everyone has equal rights and duties."
