Qamishlo Canton people: Leader Ocalan's physical freedom is the freedom of all components

Thousands of residents of Qamishlo Canton affirmed, during a mass demonstration, that leader Ocalan's physical freedom means the freedom of all components, and demanded an escalation of the struggle to achieve it.

Since March of last year, the Turkish occupation state has been concealing the status of leader Abdullah Ocalan, who is detained on Imrali Island. And imposes arbitrary measures against him and prevents his family and lawyers from meeting him, even the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) in its last visit to Imrali prison; did not make any statement clarifying the status of the leader.

To condemn this, today, Dêrik district of Qamishlo Canton witnessed a mass demonstration, calling for the removal of the isolation

imposed on leader Ocalan.

During the demonstration the people chanted slogans saluting the resistance of the leader Abdullah Ocalan in Imrali Prison, "Long live the resistance of the leader Ocalan", "Long live the leader Apo", "Freedom for the leader Ocalan", as the participants raised pictures of the leader, and banners that read " Freedom and justice for leader Ocalan."

Upon the demonstration's arrival at Freedom Square, east of Dêrik, the participants stood a minute of silence in honor of the souls of the martyrs, after which a member of the General Council of Democratic Union Party, Zainab Murad, indicated that the Turkish state is trying to end the Kurdish issue by tightening the isolation of the leader Ocalan, and emphasized the "uprising of the region' peoples against the policies and crimes of the Turkish occupation state, will fail the Turkish state goals.

Zainab added, "The solution to the problems and crises of the Middle East lies in the implementation of the democratic nation proposed by the leader Ocalan, for that the people believe that the solution to the crises lies in the physical freedom of the leader Ocalan."

For his part, the co-chair of the Dêrik district council, Muhammad Abd al-Rahim, affirmed that "The Turkish authorities are practicing the most severe types of torture and stress on the leader Ocalan who is resisting in Imrali prison, to make the peoples' democratic project success and to achieve freedom and justice for it," at the end of his speech, he stressed that "the leader's physical freedom means the freedom of all components."

The demonstration ended with the chanting of the slogan "Long live the resistance of leader Ocalan."
