KEC praises steadfastness of Afrin's IDPs over Damascus govt's blockade

On Sunday, the Afrin Social Association made a statement to the public opinion on the siege imposed by the Damascus government on Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in the city of Aleppo, in front of the office of the Afrin Social Association in the city of Qamishlo.

The statement was read by the member of the Afrin Social Association Council, Jihan Hussein.

The statement stated, "For more than two months, the Damascus government has imposed a severe siege on the areas of al-Shahba, the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, and al-Ashrafiya, preventing the entry of fuel, medicines, and foodstuffs.

The statement added, "We,condemn this unjust siege against our regions, and we appeal to civil society organizations and human rights organizations to lift the siege," calling on "all media outlets to go to these besieged areas to monitor their living conditions and their suffering in light of the loss of fuel and medicines."

The statement called on "all concerned officials to show a sense of responsibility towards this humanitarian catastrophe.
