​​​​​​​Demonstration in Tal Rifaat, denouncing the siege of the Damascus government

On Thursday, the people of Tal Rifaat district in al-Shahba canton took part in a demonstration. To denounce the siege imposed on al-Shahba canton by the Damascus government, and its prevention of the entry of basic life materials into the canton.

The demonstration, organized by the Tal Rifaat district council, was attended by the Kurdish, Arab and Turkmen residents of the district.

The demonstration started from the main square located in the center of the district, and the demonstrators carried banners that read, "Your siege will not break our will nor break our spirits", "We miss our school", "In the siege I lost my school", chanting slogans denouncing the siege, glorifying the resistance in Afrin and chanting slogans emphasizing unity Syrian lands.

With the arrival of the demonstrators in the southern square of the district, they stood a minute of silence. In honor of the souls of the martyrs, then the co-chair of the Tal Rifaat district council, Muhammad Hanan, delivered a speech in which he said, "The policy applied to us is not new today. With our displacement to al-Shahba canton, the Syrian government is practicing a policy of siege on us, and as a result it prevents the entry of basic materials for living into the canton. This led to a humanitarian crisis."

"The siege had great repercussions and effects on the health sector, the work of the municipalities and the agricultural sector, and with the tightening of the siege on al-Shahba canton, a real humanitarian crisis emerged in the canton," Hanan continued.

He added, "Through these policies, the Damascus government seeks to weaken our resistance, break our will, and distance us from our goal of liberating Afrin and all occupied areas from the abomination of terrorism represented by Erdogan and his mercenaries."

The demonstration ended with chanting slogans saluting the resistance against the policies of the Turkish occupation and the Damascus government.
