With participation of more than 120 parties, including PYD.. SI holds its conference in Madrid

 More than 120 parties around the world, including the Democratic Union Party, the Organization of the European Union and a number of state leaders, participate in the regular conference of the Organization of Socialist International.

 The co-chair of the party, Asia Abdullah, and the representative of the party in the Balkans, Dr. Ibrahim Muslim, participated in this conference on behalf of the Democratic Union Party.

During the conference, Asia delivered a speech, in which she said: "We, the Democratic Union Party, have been continuing our struggle for many years on the basis of safety, peace, justice, and equality. When the Syrian crisis began, we presented the project of the democratic nation, the brotherhood of peoples, and participatory life. Our struggle is for peace and security."

She added, "In 2012, we were attacked by Jabhat al-Nusra, and in 2014, ISIS launched an attack on Kobani, but we put up a heroic resistance for humanity in Kobani. During the fight against ISIS and the dark groups, we presented more than 10,000 martyrs and more than 20,000 wounded, but after ISIS's war on  our safe areas, we were attacked by the Turkish state.

In 2018, an attack was launched on the city of Afrin, and then on Girê Spî, Serêkaniyê, and all components of Syria.  Through it, women were also targeted, and hundreds of thousands of our people were forced to flee from their homes. Now they live in camps, and a process of demographic change is taking place in our regions, the history of the region that dates back two thousand years has been plundered, and thousands of women have been arrested and tortured as a result.

And she added, "On the 20th of this month, the Turkish state re-launched air attacks on our regions with 50 warplanes and 20 drones. All of our regions are now subjected to heavy bombardment, and dozens of people lost their lives, until the media was targeted, vital centers were bombed, and thus our regions are subjected to genocide attacks."  Because we as Kurds are subjected to genocide, the people of northern and eastern Syria who resisted and stood up to ISIS are under attack, and ISIS exploits these attacks on our regions to revive itself and launch an attack again, ISIS will regain its activity after this attack again, thousands of ISIS detainees and their families are in our areas;  Turkey targets the forces that protect ISIS camps through its aircraft, so all international powers are responsible for these attacks.

 Assia Abdullah affirmed, "We do not support the war, but we support the political solution. We take the unity of the Syrian territories as a basis for the solution, and for a decentralized system and a democratic constitution, and in order to guarantee the rights of the Kurds and all the peoples of the region, and the freedom of women. Hundreds of women lost their lives during the war against  ISIS. Today, the vanguard women are being targeted by planes, including Hevrin Khalaf, Zahra Barkal, Zainab Saroukhan, Jiyan Tolhaldan by the Turkish state’s planes.

We ask for support in order to impose a no-fly zone over the skies of our regions, and support in order to find a political solution for all the Syrian people. We say no to genocide, nor to war.

 She concluded her speech by saying: "We are always ready to fight for peace and a political solution. We call on all institutions and organizations present here and the President of International Socialism to support stopping the war against our people."
