US Envoy: We oppose any Turkish ground invasion in NE Syria

The top US envoy in NE Syria expressed his country's strong opposition to Turkey's targeting of infrastructure in NE Syria, adding that Washington opposes any ground invasion and will continue to do so.

Via Zoom application, US top envoy to NE Syria, Nicholas Granger, said, " We strongly opposes military action that further destabilizes the lives of communities and families in Syria," and called for "a Cease the escalation immediately."

Granger considered, "The escalation in Syria in recent days is unacceptably dangerous and threatens the safety of American civilians and personnel. These actions risk the Coalition's hard-won progress against ISIS and our ongoing fight against ISIS to ensure that the group can never re-emerge."

Granger added: "Our deepest concern and condolences for the loss of civilian life that occurred as a result of the recent escalation. We have consistently communicated our serious concerns to Turkey about the impact of the escalation on civilians and the goal of eliminating ISIS. We have urged not to conduct such operations as our Syrian partner has urged us to Non-aggression or escalation.

In response to a question by ANHA agency, regarding the weak American position (contrary to Washington's position regarding Russia's targeting of infrastructure in Ukraine) regarding the Turkish occupation state's attacks on civilian infrastructure (oil, gas, electricity) and the targeting of journalists, the Granger said, "At first, we offer our condolences to Hawar Agency with the loss of journalist Issam Abdullah for his life, and martyrdom of civilians."

"We are in continuous contact with the Turkish authorities to urge them to stop military operations," Granger explained.

About the Turkish aircraft's penetration of US-controlled airspace, Grainger cleared that it is very difficult to detect the path of Turkish drones.
