​​​​​​​Khadij Ibrahim: another six-month prohibition on lawyers’ visitations has no legal basis

On October 21, the Bursa Execution Court imposed a new penalty banning the leader, Abdullah Ocalan, from meeting with his lawyer for another 6 months, after he imposed a decision banning the meeting on April 13.

The defense team of Mr. Abdullah Ocalan confirmed during a written statement, on October 29, that “disciplinary penalities” are a spiritual harm on the leader, and “inflicting serious spiritual harm on health of leader Ocalan. Persecuting the leader for political, cultural and national reasons is discrimination according to the 1948 International Convention, and the Rome Statute for the International Criminal Prosecution of 1998.” Khadija Ibrahim, indicated that this punishment imposed by the so-called "justice bodies" of the Turkish state, has no legal basis, saying: "The international conspiracy against leader Ocalan is still continuing in various forms and methods." Khadija confirmed that one of the methods for the continuation of this conspiracy is the "disciplinary penalities" imposed by the Turkish state against the leader Ocalan, drawing attention to the lies created by the fascist Turkish state to prevent meeting with the leader.

Subsequently, for more than a year and a half, disciplinary penalities were imposed." Regarding the purpose of imposing “disciplinary penalties,” lawyer Khadija Ibrahim explained, “ Turkey is trying to cut off communication between the leader and the people, and break the will of the Kurds and the peoples of the Middle East who yearn for freedom. She explained that one of the conditions for benefiting from the "right to hope" is that there should not be "disciplinary penalties" imposed during the life sentence jail.

At the conclusion of her speech, the lawyer and co-chair of the defense committee for Mr. Abdullah Ocalan in North and East Syria, Khadija Ibrahim, pointed out the need for the European Committee Against Torture (CPT) to disclose the results of its recent visit to Imrali, with regard to the health and legal status of the leader Ocalan.

Worth to note that a delegation from the European Committee Against Torture (CPT) visited Turkey's prisons between September 20-29, including Imrali prison, to investigate the terms and conditions of the imprisonment of leader Ocalan, and the committee indicated that it would prepare the report in March of 2023.
