4th Division imposes severe siege in Sheikh Maksoud

The Damascus Government's "4th Division" tightened the siege on the people of the Sheikh Maksoud and Ashrafiyah neighbourhoods of Aleppo, demonstrating its first effects by reducing the number of hours of electricity generators, threatening the lives of nearly a quarter of a million people as winter approaches and heating is lacking.

The Damascus Government's "4th Division" tightened the blockade of the Sheikh Maksoud and Ashrafiyah neighbourhoods in Aleppo

216,000 citizens live in the Sheikh Maksoud and Ashrafiyah neighbourhoods, according to the latest census of the neighbourhood's Relief Committee at the end of 2021

The siege in the initial stage forced the People’s Municipality in Sheikh Maksoud and Ashrafiyah neighborhoods to issue a circular reducing the number of hours of operation of generators that supply Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood with electricity, in order to preserve fuel stocks as much as possible in order to ensure the operation of the bakeries and the only hospital in the neighborhood.

The siege has also caused significant economic losses to the neighbourhood's vital sectors, including the garment and battery industry and other industries in the neighbourhood.

As winter approaches, the neighbourhood's people fear that they will not receive their heating allowance under the imposition and intensification of the siege, which could lead to humanitarian disasters, including the spread of diseases, especially among children.
