Jurists: One of tasks of UNSC , UN is to remove Turkish occupation from occupied areas

 Today, the Serekaniye Displaced Persons Committee organized a legal dialogue seminar, on the seventh and final day of the campaign they launched under the slogan, “Safe return is a legitimate right,” for human rights defenders and lawyers from the city of Serekaniye and its countryside, to shed light on the crimes of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries in the occupied areas.  In northern and eastern Syria, including the Serêkaniyê area, and focusing on the role of jurists and lawyers in dealing with the case.

 Dozens of lawyers, judges and jurists, in addition to dozens of displaced persons living within the camp, attended the legal symposium, which was organized at the Community Protection Center located in the camp in Al-Tala'a neighborhood in the city of Hasaka.

Jamil highlighted the violations and crimes committed by the Turkish occupying state and its mercenaries against the indigenous population, which amount to crimes of genocide. He also highlighted the possibility of filing cases against the perpetrators before international courts.

 The symposium included an extensive discussion between jurists on the legal framework, and indicated that one of the tasks of the United Nations and the UN Security Council is to remove the Turkish occupation from the occupied areas. They stressed that any violation by any country regarding international peace and security requires legal responsibility, in accordance with international law.

 The jurists noted, through their participation, that the presence of the Turkish occupying state, without any coordination and agreement with any party from the Damascus government, constitutes an occupation."

 It stated:

 “Three years on the painful anniversary of the occupation of the areas of Serêkaniyê / Ras al-Ain and Gire Spi / Tel Abyad through a military operation by the Turkish occupier and its mercenaries with the complicity of some international and regional parties, which resulted in the occupation of the two cities and their countryside and the displacement of the indigenous population by force of arms and organized terrorism.

 The Committee for the Displaced of Serêkaniyê / Ras al-Ain / Rash Ain launched a campaign of events and activities and the issuance of official statements and reports condemning the Turkish aggression, under the title (Safe return is a legitimate right), through a press conference in Washokani camp in al-Hasakah, starting from 10/8/2022 until today, in the presence of the media, committee administrators and some of our displaced families.

 Now, we present the series of events and activities that we carried out during the week:

the second day :

 Launching a hashtag on behalf of the committee under the title (Safe return is a legitimate right) in both Kurdish and Arabic.

 Holding a seminar for the displaced in Washokani camp under the title "Serêkaniyê before and after the occupation", in the presence of dozens of displaced persons and the media.

 the third day:

 Several committees were formed to visit the councils of the families of the martyrs in the camps, and many families of the families of the martyrs, the missing and the prisoners inside and outside the camps, and to listen to them.

  the fourth day :

 Holding an extensive dialogue seminar for the displaced under the title "Safe return is a legitimate right" in Serêkaniye / Tala'a camp, with the participation of dozens of displaced persons and administrators.

 The fifth day :

 Two separate delegations of committee members were formed to deliver protest notes to the Russian administration through the Department of Foreign Relations in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.

 And another note to the representative of the coalition against ISIS in Al-Hasakah, and a meeting with the US envoy.

 A letter was also delivered to the Department of Foreign Relations to raise the level of coordination to work together and facilitate the participation of members of the Committee in international forums and conferences, to convey the reality on the ground and the situation of the displaced through official reports, conclusive evidence and documentation, and to convey the suffering and demands of the displaced to them.

 the sixth day :

Forming several delegations to visit the displaced. These delegations visited the displaced in the camps and outside, the shelter centers, and the residents in villages and cities, and listened to them about their suffering and how to find solutions to those problems with the concerned authorities in the Autonomous Administration.

 the seventh day :

 Holding an extensive dialogue session for lawyers, judges and jurists to discuss the legal status of the occupation and how to deal with this file after its internationalization, and to discuss the legal situation and the need to file lawsuits against the occupier and its mercenaries in national and international courts, as well as the complicit and accomplices with it.

 From here we are in the Committee of the Displaced of Serêkaniyê / Ras al-Ain / Rash Ainu, as we announce the end of the campaign "Safe return is a legitimate right" that we launched and continued for a continuous week of activities and events denouncing the crimes of the occupier and its mercenaries. At the same time, we assure our displaced people that we will spare no effort to defend them by various means (political - diplomatic - legal) and others without hesitation and inaction in order to return safely and dignified for our resistance people in the camps and outside to their villages and cities without occupation.

And intensifying diplomatic efforts with all external powers (official and popular), international organizations and democratic forces at home to compel the Turkish occupier to withdraw from all occupied areas, which have become the scene of massacres and genocide by following the policy of displacement and Turkification.

 We also hold the international community responsible for what happened to our people as a result of the Turkish aggression, and we call upon it once again to carry out its duties and not evade them in order to stop the wheel of Turkish terrorism, end the occupation and ensure the return of the people and the indigenous people to their areas unconditionally, and we demand the central leadership of the international coalition against ISIS to stand by the displaced  And in their plight and pressure on Turkey to withdraw from Syria in order to resolve the file of terrorist organizations because of the close organic link between them after the occupied areas turned into a safe haven for terrorist organizations, and to make room for political solutions.

 We renew our appeal to international organizations, including the United Nations, to provide the necessary support to the displaced in accordance with the international laws in force in and outside the camps, without politicizing humanitarian files and exploiting them for illegal and legal aims and objectives in order to please others.
