Omar for EP: skies must be closed in front of Turkish drones that threaten region

The representative of the AANES in Europe, Abdul Karim Omar, held several meetings in Strasbourg, France, with European parliamentarians within the Friends of the Kurds, in addition to holding a press conference in cooperation with the Friends of the Kurds.

 In a statement to our agency, Abdul Karim Omar revealed that they discussed with the participants the status quo in NES, in particular the fight against ISIS, the humanitarian and economic situation as a result of the siege on the regions of north and east Syria, and Turkish threats to launch a new aggression.

Abdul Karim Omar said: "We have highlighted the Turkish attacks against the NES regions, and Turkey's targeting of leaders of the Syrian Democratic Forces - who fought ISIS terrorism- defenseless civilians and children, and the AANES officials by drones."

Omar explained: "We have confirmed that the Turkish state seeks to change the demographics of the region in the occupied territories."

 AANES should be supported

 Omar noted that during their meetings they raised the need for the international community to provide the necessary support the AANES in supporting the Syrian Democratic Forces in fighting ISIS cells, standing in the face of Turkish attacks and threats, and closing the airspace in front of Turkish drones that threaten  Security and stability of the region, and contribute to the revitalization of ISIS cells.

Following the meetings held by Abdul Karim Omar, a press conference was organized in the presence of the two members of the European Parliament from the Friends of the Kurdish People Group in Parliament. They are the parliamentary spokesperson for the Friends of the Kurdish People Group, Francois Alfonsi and Andreas Schider.

 During the conference, Omar highlighted the developments in NES, and said: "We do not want our regions to be marginalized under the shadows of the Ukrainian war. Yes, it has been announced that ISIS has been eliminated geographically, but its danger still exists so far, as it intensified its attacks and operations. There are dozens of sleeper cells in the region, especially in areas previously occupied by ISIS."

Omar explained during the press conference: "There are thousands of ISIS members in the detention centers, in addition to the presence of thousands of ISIS families in al-Hol camp, which is the most dangerous in the world, and a new generation is being created there on the extremist ideology of ISIS. The camp witnesses killings on a daily basis, since the beginning of  the this year, 44 cases of murder have been documented within the camp.

 ISIS sought to declare its state again

 Omar indicated that the international community and the global coalition do not attach importance to the al-Hol camp as if the threat of ISIS had been removed, and said: "We hope to solve this dilemma before a catastrophe afflicts the international community, and if it and Europe turn their backs on the dilemma of ISIS, they should not be surprised if ISIS announces a new caliphate  in the region, the attack that targeted the al-Sinaa prison, the main objective was to liberate the prisoners, take control of the city of al-Hasakah, and declare their state again."

He touched on the economic situation experienced by the residents of the north and east of Syria as a result of the siege imposed on the region and the lack of humanitarian aid allocated to the regions of north and east Syria, and said: "Aid allocated to reach the regions of north and east Syria through Damascus does not reach the region, and this affects the way  a significant impact on living life, which helps in the penetration of ISIS mercenaries into the developing regions."

 Turkish attacks activate ISIS cells

 Omar stressed that one of the main factors that help revitalize ISIS within the region is the Turkish attacks against the regions of northern and eastern Syria and its constant threats to launch a new aggression against the region, and said: "These attacks and threats destabilize the security and stability of the region, and help activate ISIS cells within the region."

 Abdul Karim Omar explained that the skies of northern and eastern Syria are open to Turkish drones and planes that launch attacks against the region, targeting defenseless civilians and leaders of the Syrian Democratic Forces who are running the war against ISIS mercenaries, and said: "A while ago, the leader of the anti-terror units, Jiyan Afrin, was targeted. She was the prominent leader in the war against ISIS, and a special school for children who were excluded from the military forces was targeted, and 5 children were martyred in the Turkish attack, in addition to 11 others were wounded.

 The representative of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Abdul Karim Omar, is scheduled to hold a series of other meetings, in order to shed light on the developments taking place in North, East and Syria, and the role of the international community in order to deter Turkish attacks that impede the anti-ISIS campaign, in addition to the repercussions of the siege.  imposed on the area.
